For the last two years, Kid Heroes Productions and their film Lumpia with a Vengeance have made waves at WonderCon Anaheim.
The film follows an unlikely hero and a high school student join forces to prevent a mysterious crime syndicate from destroying their town — armed only with a lumpia. Since its debut, the creators have created a world around the film, with multiple comics, for a “Deep Fried Universe”.
This month you’ll find Kid Heroes Productions at Small Press #SP-69, where they’ll be serving up WonderCon exclusives, artist signings, and a special panel at the convention.
You can also catch their panel, “Halo Halo: A Scoop of Filipino American Voices in Comics”, on Sunday, March 31 from 11am-12pm in Room 209. Publishers Waverley Lim (Kwento Comics), Mark A.J. Nazal (Diwata Komiks), Patricio Ginelsa (Lumpia with a Vengeance / Kid Heroes Productions), and Kristian Kabuay (Dasig) will be on hand to discuss how they took control of their own narrative, adding their unique flavors to the Filipino American diaspora. Those in attendance will also receive a free, exclusive art print by artist Kian Joshua.
