The creative team behind the fan-favorite Lumpia film and comic series will delve into their latest projects, including their upcoming comic The Ones and Twos. The new series highlights the vibrant mobile DJ scene of the 1990’s within Filipino American communities. For fans of the Lumpia-verse, they’ll discuss the current issue of The Legendary Lumpia Squad, which includes the most influential and successful Filipino band in Philippine music history: the legendary Eraserheads. You’ll find the band premiering the trailer of the feature “Combo on the Run”, as well as panelists Patricio Ginelsa (writer/director), Whilce Portacio (artist), DJ Kuttin Kandi (5th Platoon), Edward Baon (co-creator), the Eraserheads, and moderator Winston Emano (mano Y mano Media).

Then the following day, catch Ginelsa, Portacio, Baon, Ely Buendia (The Erasheaders), DJ Kuttin Kandi, Gerald Pilare, Brian Bello, and Cesar Cueva signing in the Sails pavilion from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Note that Whilce Portacio will only be signing Lumpia comic books and collectibles.

[UPDATE June 5]

Following the success of the premiere of their film at San Diego Comic-Con, they have gone on to create a Lumpia Deep Fried Universe comic book series, to expand the world of the films.

They are currently holding a Kickstarter for their first non-Lumpia comic book though, titled The Ones and Twos. The comic is set in the 90’s, where you’ll follow a group of teenagers who team up to form their own mobile DJ group – The Xtremes, navigating the beat drops and remixing their way through high school life.

The comic reached its funding today, but there are still five more days to reach their stretch goal. As a thank you, Kid Heroes Productions revealed that they will be debuting the first issue of The Ones and Twos at San Diego Comic-Con, alongside new Lumpia Deep Fried Universe books.

Stay tuned for more details, and you can back the Kickstarter now.
