Under The Tents 2024: Alex Pardee, Rob Liefeld, Kelly Yates, Red 5 Comics, Nan Hockin, Matt Hebb, Jeff Pina

You’re probably reading this on a Tuesday but I am writing this on a Monday. There are a lot of good songs with the word Monday in the title including “Manic Monday”, “Monday, Monday”, and “Rainy Days and Mondays”. Anyways, here’s Wonderwall… err… the latest Comic-Con news!

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Creator and Illustrator Kelly Yates, whose work you have likely seen on exclusive SDCC items for both Titan Merchandise and the BBC booth over the years, will be exhibiting at the show for the first time. You’ll find him at Small Press #M-11, where he’ll be offering an exclusive, limited edition Doctor Who 11″x17 print, inspired by “The Devil’s Chord” episode from the most recent season. It’s limited to only 20 pieces for $50 each, so hurry over before it disappears.

  • Nothing quite like making a purchase of something handmade, so don’t miss Jessica Fong and their handmade charms at Comic-Con next week.

  • The couple that creates together, stays together. And that holds true for Brandon Kenney and Karen Hallion. Karen recently took to Twitter to show off Brandon’s upcoming beautiful Superman print, which celebrates the legacy of Christopher Reeves’ Superman, that will be headed to San Diego Comic-Con. You can find Brandon over at #BB-14, right next to Karen.

  • Artist Jacoby Salcedo and writer Julio Anto have a very busy San Diego Comic-Con. You will mostly find them signing at Table #BB-10 and #BB-11 at the con, but be sure to check their full schedule of events.

  • Underverse is brining the goth! Debuting at their Booth #2742 will be Ashley Wood’s Goth Bear collectible vinyl figure. Emo lifestyle not required to purchase.

  • Jim Ousley will be at SDCC and will be signing at the Red 5 Comics Booth #1808. What’s Jim signing? How about limited early copies of the Butcher Queen Vol. 2: Planet of the Dead trade paperback.

  • There isn’t a character more in-demand than Deadpool. And that means it’s going to be a huge year for co- creator Rob Liefeld, who will be signing at San Diego Comic-Con at Booth #5568 on Thursday from 2:30pm-4:30pm. If you want to ensure you get his autograph, make sure you sign up for his Super League Pack, which includes six signed comics, including Deadpool Wolverine #1 Liefeld Variant, Deadpool #1-3 Liefeld Variants, an exclusive Deadpool #6 variant, and a Deadpool New Mutants #98 facsimilie whatnot variant. It also gets you a photo op and access to the first group of signings. You can purchase it now for $220.

  • It’s a double dose of Rob Liefeld as Comicbook.com revealed that Rob will be debuting three covers for the Avengelyne 30th anniversary editions set to be available at San Diego Comic-Con this month. The covers come from artists Shannon Maer, Angela Wu, and Billy Tucci.

  • Bottlneck Gallery has given us a sneak peek at an upcoming piece for SDCC from Martin Ansin. Any guesses?

  • Artist and writer Liam Sharp revealed on Twitter that they will be signing alongside Becky Cloonan and Michael W Conrad who collectively were behind X-O MANOWAR: UNCONQUERED on Thursday at Booth #1807.

  • It’s a home run! Fan favorite Alex Pardee scored a grand slam with his newest trading cards, including a Project70 Babe Ruth (the literal “GOAT”) and a new Brightmares New York card. While not exclusive to the con, Pardee did tease that you should be on the lookout for a special version at his booth during the con…

  • Nan Hockin, no stranger to these Under The Tents articles, will have another great deal happening. You can score three large mystery prints for only $10! But wait, you can actually get it FREE if you have spend $50 or more. We love a good deal.

  • Is it the year of Luigi? If not, it should be and you should celebrate the taller plumber with this Luigi piece from artist Jeff Pina (or any of the video game-related pieces seen below). Head over to Small Press #Q-06 to snag one of these video game hand-drawn pieces.
