Under the Tents 2024: Mitch Gerads, Dreamforger Studios, J. Scott Campbell, Chrissie Zullo Uminga

Guess what, folks?! We made it! San Diego Comic-Con 2024 has gone from this year, to this month, to this week. You’ve probably seen all the setup going on in the Gaslamp Quarter as America’s Finest City gets ready to host the best pop culture convention in the world. Read on for SDCC announcements from ONI Press, Mitch Gerads, Chrissie Zullo Uminga, and a lot more.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Art of PAO is bringing the cuteness to Artists’ Alley at Table #HH-17 with her three SDCC-exclusive sticker packs and Terno pin that can only leave you wanting more.
  • We’re bummed that our good friend, artist Nick Kremenek, and his Dreamforger Studios won’t be able to be at San Diego Comic-Con this year personally. Lucky for us, he sent a few items along with his friends and fellow Firefly enthusiasts, the California Browncoats, for their Tables at #A-08 and #A-09 in Hall A in the Exhibit Hall, including his stunning portrait of Summer Glau as River Tam. Like they said in The Big Bang Theory, “It’s hot in here; it must be Summer,” (or the air conditioning broke again).

  • Fans of brilliant comic artist J. Scott Campbell can swing by Booth #2029 during SDCC this year to complete their collection of The Ultimate Spider-Man #4 with this SDCC-exclusive virgin cover Variant D that he’s been holding onto specifically for San Diego Comic-Con. Limited to a release of only 1,800 pieces, you can find it at the booth for $50 unsigned and $70 signed by Campbell himself.

  • Artist Frank Cho will debut the fourth installment of his stunning artbook, Outrage, at ComicSketchArt’s Booth #4901 during SDCC this year. I wonder how many books my outrage would fill? I’m pretty sure it would be more than four.

  • Another legend coming to the ComicSketchArt Booth #4901 is Mitch Gerads, who’s bringing this amazing Wonder Woman print with him. Does Clark know that she’s willing and able to hit a guy with glasses?

  • If there wasn’t enough cuteness before, Interstellar Cuties are making sure everything is covered at Artistic Flavorz’ Booth #617 during Comic-Con this year, where they’ll be debuting these adorable resin charms.

  • Unbox Industries will be hanging with DKE Toys at Booth #2643 for Comic-Con this year, and they’re bringing this convention-exclusive soft resin Devil Nyan designed by legendary Japanese artist Ayako Ishiguro with them.

  • How do you know something is the “Real McCoy” (no, not the chief medical officer from the Starship Enterprise) without a Certificate of Authenticity? Artist Chrissie Zullo Uminga wants to let all her fans display her art proudly and authentically with 50 certificates she’s bringing to Artists’ Alley Table #BB-17 for her X-Men #1 SDCC-exclusive cover.

  • Bring the littles and/or your inner child by Artists’ Alley Table #DD-24 during San Diego Comic-Con this year to visit artist Howard M. Shum. He’s bringing the whimsy with lots of original artwork, his graphic novel, and fun caricatures.

  • If you’re planning on bringing a Doomlings card to CGC’s Booth #4315 during SDCC this year, Doomlings wants to give you something special: an officially-graded brand-new “Attentive” card to add to your already giant collection of these stunning cards.

  • Have you ever looked at your pug and thought, “I wonder what he/she would look like as the ‘Daniel Craig Dancing’ meme”? Fantagraphics has, and they put it on a t-shirt they’re debuting at Booth #1721 during SDCC this year.

  • Legendary artist and San Diego Comic-Con International co-founder Scott Shaw! knows why Jack Kirby is smiling and wants to tell you all about it at his SDCC panel on Saturday, July 27 at 3:00pm PT.

  • Artist Michael Phillip Dunbabin’s latest homage to the Master of Suspense isn’t just for the birds. You’d be psycho if you didn’t stop by Hero Complex Galaxy’s Booth #4501 to see the debut of Dunbabin’s latest Hitchcock-inspired piece that would go perfect next to your rear window.

  • Cover artist E. M. Gist wants to make sure you don’t look for him in Artists’ Alley at SDCC this year. He’s hanging with the awesome folks at Trinity Comics at Booth #5553, where he’ll be drawing sketch commissions and signing his work.
