Under the Tents 2024: Ryan Dunlavey, California Browncoats, Ben Bishop, Jackie Dallas

It’s officially two weeks until San Diego Comic Con!! Let’s not all panic at once. It’s been a super busy day, and we’ve gotten a lot of announcements today, and the schedule starts to release tomorrow! While everyone is excited for the big panels and offsites, let’s not forget about or miss out on some of the other panels, autographs, or exclusives… 

Here’s a look at what you may have missed: 

  • Mirka Andolfo Fumettis shared some old pieces done with copic, and that you would be able to find her at the Comic Sketch Art booth. Stop by to get your hands on some truly amazing pieces. 

  • Artist and Illustrator Andres Labrada announced that he will be at the show taking sketch commissions all weekend long. You can find him at Booth #4400 (near Gate F). 

  • Any Voltron fans out there? You won’t want to miss this one! Company ThreeZero has shared a variant of one of their Voltron figures. The Voltron: Defender of the Universe – ROBO-DOU Voltron (Black x Gold Edition) is going to be one of their summer convention exclusives. This figure is a non-scale, fully-articulated piece, standing at about 10.6″ tall in Voltron mode with a die-cast main frame. It will be available for on-site pre-ordering during the con, with expected shipping in the third quarter of 2024. No word yet on pricing or where exactly you will be able to order on the show floor, but stay tuned to ThreeZero for more information.

  • In addition to their fan meet-up and party on Wednesday, Big Man Comics will be having featured signings taking place at their Booth #1705. Stop by the booth to meet Stuttering Craig on Friday, July 26 from 1pm – 2pm; Nerdrotic and 1/4 Black Garrett on Saturday July 27 from 12pm – 1pm; and Alan Ng and Chris Gore on Thursday July 25 from 11am – 12pm and Saturday July 27 from 11am – 12pm. 

  • Jonathan Glapion will be appearing for the first time in his career in Artist Alley Table #GG-01. He will have a limited number of variant prints of his Spawn 350 cover. Be sure to stop by and show him the SDCC love, and make his first appearance memorable. 

  • Rob Retiano shared a preview of a piece he’s working on for the show, an epic TMNT drawing that any fan would love to have. 

  • Do you love exciting surprises and exclusive giveaways? Do you love comics? Of course you do! Make sure to stop by Aspen Comics at Booth #2320 for all the aforementioned fun things.

  • Ryan Dunlavey has created a Fanzine titled YO: A FANZINE, a personal tribute to everyone’s favorite Real American Heroes. Limited to just 100 copies, each one comes signed and numbered. These will be sold exclusively at his Artist Alley Table #CC-14 or on his website. Act fast before you miss out!

  • Morgan Slay has shared her first foray into the crochet critter drop, an adorable [Little] big sandworm from Dune. Follow along with her social to find out her full cosplay and critter schedule

  • Drink and Be Merry, especially with these beautiful etched Kaylee’s pint glasses. California Browncoats shared the glasses made by Nick Kremenek that will be available during the show (and you’ll also find a new t-shirt a swell). Find them at #A7 –  #A8 on the floor.

  • The Gaslamp Quarter is gearing up and ready for Comic Con 2024. Follow along on their socials for exclusive content, where to go for free Gaslamp Comic-Con activities, and even Scavenger Hunts with fun, themed prizes and more! For those who don’t have tickets to the convention, this sounds like a super fun time outside. 

  • Jackie Dallas known for her roles in Stranger Things and The Winchesters will be signing autographs and taking photos in the Sails Pavilion each day. On Thursday, some of her fellow Asian women actors will be joining her for the signing. Also don’t miss out on their panel on Thursday night at 7pm in Ballroom ABC, focusing on Asian Women Representation in Entertainment.

Selling The Hit: What You Always Wanted To Know About the Stunt Industry will feature a diverse panel of stuntmen and stuntwomen who share everything you could ever want to know about the industry.   • Stay tuned to Big Clutch‘s socials on how to get all of their Skybound, TopCow, and eBay variants, but also be sure to stop by their Booth #1101 for even more stuff.

  • “Go Go Power Rangers!” Amy Jo Johnson the original Pink Power Ranger will be signing autographs at the BOOM! Studios booth during the convention on Wednesday from 7-9pm, Thursday from 11am-12pm, Friday from 11am-12pm and 3-5pm, and on Saturday from 12:30-1:30pm. Looks like the price will be $50. 

  • Stop by EigoMANGA’s booth #1802 to pick up all of Guerrilla Publishing‘s top titles. When there, you can get a limited edition Cryptic Creeper keychain with the purchase of any comic.
