While we are still waiting for a date for the Downtown Hotel Sale — otherwise known as “Hotelpocalypse” — we do have some information.
The official list of hotels which will be available in the sale have been released, and as suspected by the name change in the sale (formerly the “General” Hotel Sale, which is now something else) — this year it appears it is truly downtown hotels only.
The rest of the sale sounds like it will work as normal — you’ll enter a virtual waiting room on the day of Hotelpocalypse, and then be admitted to a form in a random order, where you’ll be able to mark your preferred hotels.
For those who are either unlucky in the Downtown Hotel Sale, or who were hoping for a Mission Valley, airport, or Coronado Island area hotel, your sale will be the General Hotel Sale. That will take place at a later date, and be live inventory, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
