Under the Tents 2025: Alex Dos Diaz, Patrick Ballesteros, Geeki Tiki, Terry Huddleston, Jeffrey Brown

Well, we’ve almost closed the doors on April and in just a few days…it’s gonna be MAAAYYY. Let’s put the Hotelpocalypse (and subsequent General Sale debacle) behind us and turn our sights on the Who and the What: Who will we see at San Diego Comic-Con, and What will we buy? (All followed closely by “Where” as in “Where will we eat?”)

Today we have more than a handful of appearance confirmations, some subversive and cute stickers by Patrick Ballesteros, something geeky that involves tikis, and so much more:

Ready for the news? You better be!

  • Ronin Club Collectibles is wasting no time getting fans excited for the legendary voice actors they will be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con. Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Bleach fans can meet and get signatures from Ryusei Nakao. Watch their Facebook group for more details.

  • Artist and illustrator Chris Maze has been in the planning stages for his San Diego Comic-Con exclusives and he’s had to make some tough decisions. As a chronic over-thinker and often-regretter, I can empathize with this, but frankly, Maze has never made a miss-step with his exclusives and we’re sure to love whatever he’s got cooking for 2025. In the meantime, we’re queue this song up on repeat.

  • 🎶 Raise your glass if you are wrong… in all the right ways… All my underdogs, we will never be, never be, anything but loud and nitty gritty… dirty little freaks.🎶 All the geeky kids love all the Geeki Tikis and once again Beeline Creative is giving us a reason to raise our glass… with this announcement that they will be teaming up with False Idol for a spirited event during San Diego Comic-Con. Better watch their socials for details.

  • Despite what some folks like to say, comic books are always alive and well at San Diego Comic-Con. We’ve been scouring the schedules of many of the most popular comic vendors and are happy to present to you this list of folks who have already committed to attending. Here are six great reasons to keep your “want list” updated and handy:
  • The third volume of artist Jeff Egli’s provocative sketchbook is available for pre-order now, but why order it when you can pick one up in person at San Diego Comic-Con?

My new sketchbook is available for pre-order now! It should be in stock April 30th! This is the 3rd one in my Underdrawings series. www.jeglipinup.comIt will be available at this year's San Diego Comic Con as well!

  • If you’d like to see creator Jeffrey Brown bring some of these Wolverine pins to San Diego Comic-Con then you might want to head over to Threads and put in your request. Brown’s latest book, The Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Fun hits stores on April 29 and is chock-full of his adorable art and signature humor. Bring it all to SDCC, Jeffrey, bring it ALL!

  • Sometimes we find news in the most unlikely of places. For instance, in this Spirit Print Services work in progress photo, a Helldivers print by artist Terry Huddleston, which Spirit says is in the works for San Diego Comic-Con. We will be watching closely for more information about how to get our mitts on what looks to be a very cool print.

  • Patrick Ballesteros, you sneaky artist, you! You somehow made this cute sticker of Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender into something… well… Let’s just say your Filipino nana might slap you with her slipper if you say it.

  • Illustrator Martin Hsu will have a unique version of his Dragon Boy figure at San Diego Comic-Con, one of his popular Artist Series editions. Who is the lucky artist? That remains to be seen!

  • James Silvani’s original book Pirates: A Graphic History, is one step closer to publication and advance copies are scheduled to arrive in time for San Diego Comic-Con. If not, someone’s gotta walk the plank.

  • Artist collective Essential Sequential will be brining some of their roster of artists to San Diego Comic-Con. We think their list will grow as the show gets closer but right now they show that Arthur Adams, Joyce Chin, Cully Hamner, David Finch, and Enrico Marini are attending.
  • Artist and illustrator Alex Dos Diaz won’t be home much this summer, his schedule is packed to the hilt with appearances and conventions. Lucky for us, San Diego Comic-Con is listed. We can’t wait to see Alex’s glorious art in person.

  • And lastly today, Nicholas Doan, writer and co-creator of the all-ages graphic novel Monster Elementary, has a brand new series debuting at San Diego Comic-Con at Q-05 in the Small Press with Broker Oar Productions. Misfit Island is a new all-ages graphic novel featuring three different stories with different sets of characters that all exist in the same world and all share a connection to a secret island called Dissidentia. The book will be available to back on Kickstarter starting April 29.
