Are you local to San Diego and looking to make that Comic-Con feeling last all summer long? The Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park is keeping fandom alive with its Into the Whoniverse panel series, inspired by the current exhibit, Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder. These engaging talks explore the intersection of science, storytelling, and the Whoniverse —perfect for fans of Doctor Who, sci-fi, and the real-world ideas behind your favorite fictional tech.
There are three more events scheduled for this summer, including:
-
May 24 at 1PM-2PM – Shaping the Fantastic Through Music and Sound Design: Explore how soundscapes and music shape what we see and feel in sci-fi, with a focus on Doctor Who’s iconic audio elements.
-
June 7 at 11AM-12PM – Bigger on the Inside: Doctor Who Gadgets and the Future of Technology: From sonic screwdrivers to the TARDIS, dive into how sci-fi tech compares to emerging real-world innovations.
-
August 9 at 2PM-3PM – Friendship is Universal: Doctor Who and Star Trek: Join a cross-fandom discussion on the scientific ideas and storytelling that connect these two long-running universes.
Cosplay and questions are encouraged at the events.
Entry to the panels is included with a Comic-Con Museum ticket (which also grants you access to the Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder exhibit, as well as all of the Comic-Con Museum’s other exhibits). Tickets are available for $30 for adults, with discounted $20 tickets available for seniors (65+), military or students with ID, or juniors (13-17). For young-ones 6-12, tickets are $15, or free for those under 6 years old.
