This year, in an effort to feature more attendees, rather than featuring just one per week — we’re featuring lots of you! We’ll have a new question each week, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media channels for each week’s question. Without further ado let’s get into this weeks question:
Santiago Rico

I can’t just pick 1! Some of my favorite artists (in no particular order):
Henry Lio drawing my sweet pupper that crossed the rainbow:
Val, making me a pair of drawings of one of my dogs that crossed the rainbow, hugging gary!
Martin Hsu and his awesome cats:
And how can we forget Patrick Ballesteros!:
Theresa Bonafede
San Diego, CA
It is SO HARD to choose a favorite artist. My walls are covered with SDCC art so much so that I don’t have room for ANY more. You would think that would keep me from buying new pieces, but I can’t seem to help myself.
Favorite commissions: James Silvani
And yes, I have a new one coming for 2025! James has a Kickstarter book debuting at SDCC called PIRATES: A GRAPHIC HISTORY (But not THAT kind of graphic), and I’m so excited!
Favorite other artist: Patrick Ballesteros
Favorite artist no longer at SDCC: NinjaBot, miss these guys so much.
Matt Mulholland
I have a favorite artist that I found a few years ago, and continue to find him at WonderCon and SDCC every year for commissions! It’s “Bob Draws Stuff”, he’s awesome!
Deon Sinquefield
Houston, TX
Favorite artist, that’s an easy one: The one and only Chris Maze!!! I first ran across his artwork on the UBLOG website and it was the Kenobi series-inspired “I Am What You Made Me” artwork that blew my mind among MANY others. Since then I’ve posted and reposted his work and he and I developed a friendship. So not only is he a great artist… but an awesome friend too!!! I even invited him and his wife to my wedding. They couldn’t attend, but sent us an aMAZE-zing (see what I did there) wedding gift. I can’t wait to congratulate him on his 20th year as an exhibitor this coming SDCC and share another MANLY handshake.

My favorite artist has to be Patrick Ballesteros (@PatrickBallest), who has basically been someone I’ve bought from at every con I’ve been too. I even got a commission a few years ago. However, one of the best things about SDCC is discovering other artists, and last year I discovered Val Hochberg, (@kickgirl), whose style I love and who has definitely become a favorite. I love the commission she made for me and the Gary Eras designs for the Blog party were amazing!
Cathy Macias
Martin Hsu
Jennifer Moy
Patrick Ballesteros and Martin Hsu.
Kendra Jones
My favorite artist at SDCC is definitely Rick Law. His panel last year on his Disney art was so much fun!
Mei Li
Ariel Estandarte
Orland Park , Illinois
My favorite artist at SDCC over the years has been Jim Lee. I’ve been to so many of his panels and I still haven’t won one of his sketches that he does on the stage. He entertains the crowd while he fascinates us with his sketches.

Artists are, for me, the heart and soul of San Diego Comic-Con. I have too many favorites to try to pick one, but some include:
- Patrick Ballesteros – I love his kid-ified artwork, and he’s done so many amazing pieces for me over the years, but my heart belongs to the Mr. Robot ferris wheel. Also, how do I not have a single photo of us together?! It’s been so fun getting to watch Patrick go on to do some amazing things over the years, like a t-shirt collab with Netflix and his new DC covers.

- Val Hochberg – Her chiibi style artwork is just as cute as she is. What a lovely human being on top of it. Val is also responsible for our party artwork last year (and the pirate ship artwork every year), and I’m so grateful for that.
- Naoko Mullally – I just think her artwork is effortlessly beautiful but always has whimsy to it.

- Eggdrop Ramen (Vince Alvendia) – I think Vince is massively underrated in Artist Alley, and I keep waiting for him to blow up. His artwork style is always clever, playful, and just plain great.

With so many great artists to choose from, this was a difficult choice to make; however, I have to pick Justin Harder (CLAUS Studios). We’ve seen his work in the end titles for Thor: The Dark World and My Little Pony as well as the SNL Weekend Update intro and Disney+ rebrand. My favorite, of course, is his “Li’l Deadpool” stick figure from the end titles to the first Deadpool.
