Under the Tents 2025: Chrissie Zullo, Jeff Pina, Darkstalkers, Ethan Castillo

Well friends, we’re getting ever closer. News is starting to come more often and we wouldn’t blame you if you were starting to panic a little, we certainly are. But there’s strength in numbers and our whole team has been on high alert for every tidbit. Every little morsel. Every little juicy bit of goodness.

Now before I make myself too hungry, let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:

  • It appears that artist and illustrator Brian Bear has a frothing case of Nintendo fever. We hope he recovers enough to get these Donkey Kong stickers printed for SDCC.

Gonna try and get this and Pauline printed as stickers in time for SDCC

  • It’s bottoms up with these helpful drinking vessels that Jeff Pina unearthed. They will be available while limited supplies last at this booth at San Diego Comic-Con, #Q-06, in Artist Alley.

  • But that won’t be the only thing that Jeff Pina has at his booth. He’s also busy working on several pieces of original art for attendees to scramble over. We suspect this is just the beginning for his original pieces.
  • There was ease in Casey’s manner as he stepped into his place; there was pride in Casey’s bearing and a smile on Casey’s face. And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat, no stranger in the crowd could doubt ’twas Casey at the bat.”  Oh, wrong Casey at bat! Sorry about that! This one is by artist Alex Deligiannis and he’s polishing it up for San Diego Comic-Con.
  • But wait! There’s more Turtle Power coming from Deligiannis too. He’s spending his weekend adding a bit of color to this work in progress.
  • Ethan Castillo has practically grown up in Artist Alley, and this will be the 11th time for the 20-year-old artist. He’s just getting warmed up and is working on some small post-it sketches for the show.

  • Every day closer to SDCC is also a day closer to the release of IDW’s new Kai-Sei Godzilla universe. Issue #1 will debut on Wednesday, July 23 and artist Chrissie Zullo will have copies of her very cute variant cover at her booth, #BB-17.

  • Southern California Comics doesn’t have far to go to set up at San Diego Comic-Con, but you won’t even have to leave the convention center to check out their selection of sequential art. Just mosey over to Booth #1115 to check them out.

  • The fighting game Darkstalkers has a legion of fans, and those fans will be excited to know that their favorite game will be represented in some form at San Diego Comic-Con, with these enamel pins designed by artist Mikan. Mikan has previously said they will be tabling at the UDON booth during the event and UDON publishes a Darkstalkers comic book, chances are fans can find these pins at that booth, #100.

sneak peak of some merch that I helped on the design. They will be available at SDCC ✨ I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to work on the game I love ❤️ #djmikanart #sdcc2025

  • The cool folks at Cool Lines Artwork have updated their event schedule to include San Diego Comic-Con. Cool Lines offers original comic and animation artwork from the 1930s to the present. They are also always buying original art. Find them at booth #5112
  • In addition to the previously announced super-duper cool posters that Rachel Ignotofsky will have at San Diego Comic-Con, attendees will also be able to exercise their own creative skills with free coloring pages. Better sharpen those coloring pencils!

We are doing so many giveaways at SD Comic Con! Visit me at booth #1631 for free coloring pages, promo posters and more! 🎨 #sdcc

  • Don’t worry! These mischievous-looking creatures are perfectly harmless! Plus, they might just be a clue to something bigger. What that something is, well, you’ll have to follow Mikalalala, who has been busy crocheting for drops during San Diego Comic-Con. Get ready for some finders-keepers!

  • Here’s another treat from Viet/Lao/Hmong illustrator and artist Syn “eunisyn” for San Diego Comic-Con. This sweet hand fan is a monument to the melting summer treats of days gone by. Free with $60 purchase, or $10 on it’s own. They will have a limited stock of this at Booth #DD-10.

  • Artist Jerry Gaylord will help make San Diego Comic-Con 2025 the most “super” ever. He’s made a limited run of Squiggly Lines, his design portfolio. Fly by Artist Alley Booth #AA-18 to snag one before they disappear.

  • If whimsy and fun is your style, Dorklandia is your place to be. They make the cutest, sweetest jewelry with just the most gentle of “dork” edge. They have been busy working on their SDCC table layout, hoping to attract the most eyes. We see you, Dorklandia, and we like what we see!

  • There will be two places you can snag these new San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Scarlet Huntress stickers from creator Sean Forney. In Artist Alley at Booth #EE-03, or over in Small Press at #K-03.

  • These sweet little dragons, sculpted by glass artists Bling Squared Cute Glass, won’t last long. There are only one of each unique color dragon and you can find them, and all their other adorable creations, at Booth #E-05.

  • And finally today, someone’s got the wobbles! Jack Sparrow might be unsteady on his feet, but artist James Silvani is ready and steady, with another original art piece he’ll have at San Diego Comic-Con at #II-06 in Artist Alley.

More really bad eggs for the original art portfolio coming to SDCC.
