Under the Tents 2025: Nacelle, Daniel Warren Johnson, Thrilljoy, Yesterdays, Icon Heroes

Whew! It’s been quite the day in the world of San Diego Comic-Con news. We got so many announcements from Funko, the first news on the return of Fandom’s rockin’ SDCC party, news of a two-day music festival from Crunchyroll, and more. But the crowd is always chanting “more!” and we are here to deliver.

Here’s a look at the news you might have missed:

  • Let’s start this edition of Under the Tents off with some huge news: Nacelle will have a booth for the first time at the con, where they’ll have exclusives, signings, in-booth fan events, and more. The company — best known for their The Movies That Us, The Toys That Made Us, and other series from Netflix — have quickly become a source for creating great, nostalgic toys. We’re sure to get a look at all of that at their panels this year as well. Catch them on the show floor at Booth #2547.

  • Comics artist and writer Daniel Warren has become a bonafide superstar — but that unfortunately does mean he no longer has time to offer up commissions at shows. However, Felix Comic Art shared that he’s bringing plenty of original art sketches to San Diego Comic-Con, so you’ll still be able to get your hands on an original piece by him.

  • Do you love Brazilian Ju Jitsu? Do you love animals? Then you’re going to love Icon Heroes’ original creation — Zoo Jitsu Fighters. Artist Lord Mesa has created six enamel pins for the con this year, and while we’ll have to wait for the full reveal, we think you’ll go to the mat for this one.

  • Crocheted critters don’t just magically appear — it takes a lot of work. And Mini Critter Drop has purchased a lot of yarn and craft material, so we can’t wait to see the full reveal on this one.

  • Cowabunga! Dis Liz teased some heroes in a half-shell action, heading to SDCC. While we don’t know full details yet (okay, we know full details, but you don’t know full details), it’s limited to 250 pieces, and you’ll just have to stay tuned for more.

  • Are you ready to party with Yesterdays at Stone Brewing? Well, too bad for now — because full details are still TBA. They did show off this fun pin of Stone Brewing’s mascot/logo, we’re sure for no reason at all…

  • Artist Amy Mebberson hasn’t yet opened pre-con commissions for SDCC, but for a very good reason — she’s booked with other jobs! But she says she will do her “very best to make room”.

  • Want to catch Cully Hammer (co-creator of Blue Beetle) at a con this year? Luckily, SDCC is on his 2025 convention schedule.

  • Artist Zorilita has some tales to tell you — My Little Pony tales, that is. She’s bringing the official MLP comics she worked on to her table #N-04 in Small Press.

  • And while Funko may be mostly finished, Thrilljoy is just getting started with their announcements, teasing that the “big day” is coming up fast.

  • 2000 AD have some exciting news. Writer and director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Warcraft, Mute) will be appearing at the con at the Rebellion Booth #2121 to meet fans and sign a limited number of hero images for Rogue Trooper, the upcoming film from Jones set on a distant planet where a brutal war has broken out.

  • Heavy Metal has a rockin’ convention planned, with a panel set for Friday, July 25 with graphic novel co-creators Allen Ling, John Bruno, Sherman Augustus, and Ephraim Walker. You’ll also find plenty of exclusives.
