Under the Tents 2025: The Loyal Subjects, Space Command, Dan Slott, Mezco, Joe Corroney, Gundam Card Game

We’re wishing all you dads, dog dads, grandfathers, and everything in between a very Happy Father’s Day. And what better way to celebrate… than with some San Diego Comic-Con news! Into toys? We’ve got updates from The Loyal Subjects, Mezco, and more. Love comics? How about some news from Dan Slott, Jock, and beyond. Are you a Star Wars guy? Well, we’ve got plenty of tidbits for you to throw your Father’s Day into hyperdrive.

Let’s take a look at the news you might have missed:

  • Space Command is heading back to San Diego Comic-Con with creator Marc Zicree in tow, ready to share the latest updates from the ambitious sci-fi epic. Details are still scarce, but stay tuned for more information.

  • Collectibles company Mezco Toys is heading back to San Diego Comic-Con this year, with reveals and exclusives at Booth #3145.

  • White Cat Entertainment — which specializes in comedy and genre storytelling through podcasts, comics, and beyond — will be taking over Small Press #O-10, so swing by for art, stories, and a laugh.

  • Zenescope cover artist Eric Basaldua is busy prepping for the con, and wants to know if you’d be interested in some pre-con commissions. Head over to Facebook to let him know.

  •  The great Dan Slott (The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, Arkham Asylum: Living Hell) has a busy summer ahead, but luckily SDCC is on his convention appearance list.

  • Love entertainment? Believe in the power of women? Join moderator Danielle Beckmann for the third annual “The Power of Women in Entertainment” panel at the con, with guests still TBA.

  • The force is strong with artist Joe Corroney. In addition to his Trends International exclusive, Corroney showed off a SDCC exclusive “The Republic: The Battle of Kashyyyk” 18″x24″ poster which will be available at his Booth #4300. It’s limited to just 100 copies, and will be available for $50.

  • Comic artist Clayton Crain (Ghost Rider, X-Force, Carnage) is teaming up with CGC for a signing event at San Diego Comic-Con, and there will be a special 10 Gem Mint collectors pin available, with more information still to come.

  • Here there be dragons! Opal Bellied Dragon Bebe pendants from Bling Squared Glass, that is. Forged in the fires of their studio, this hand-crafted little glass dragon is heading to #E-05 at the con.

  • Evil just met its match with Syndicate Collectibles’ third San Diego Comic-Con exclusive — Jeff from the Double Dragon franchise. The 7″ scale figure features Jeff in his signature green outfit, and comes equipped with a red barrel accessory, multiple swappable hands, and his classic melee weapons. Do you feel the power?
  • Zen Monkey Studios is bringing some serious style to San Diego Comic-Con with a new Shimmering Joker pin inspired by Persona 5. Swing by their booth to grab yours before it disappears into the Metaverse.

  • Bandai is bringing the Gundam Card Game to San Diego Comic-Con with an interactive Learn to Play experience perfect for new pilots. Participants will receive a randomly selected demo deck and a convention-exclusive promo card — Char Aznable (RP-004) — while supplies last. The booth will also offer starter decks from Heroic Beginnings to SEED Strike, plus the latest booster pack, Newtype Rising. This is your chance to dive into the action — you can find more information on the event page.

  • Trying to figure out what pre-teens want is no easy task. Luckily, some very smart folks have some ideas on how to write for that market, at “The Pre-Teen Comic Market: Fueling the Pre-Teen Dream Machine” panel, set for Friday, July 25 from 5pm-6pm in Room 9. Panelists include Jen King (Owner-Operattor Space Cadets), Alex De Luca (EnigmatownDragon Whisperer), Melissa Pagluica (Above the CloudsMonster Heart), John Hageman (Publisher, 10 Ton Press), Timmy Heague (Owner, Arsenal Comics & Games), Jameson Rohrer (2022 Eisner Award Judge).

  • Let there be Light(knights). Writer Mike Heffron shined a spotlight on a new alternate cover for Lightknights, which will be heading to Small Press #M-14.

  • They’re coming — the BB-CRE.8 San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, that is. Stay tuned for five brand new “Greetings from San Diego” daily exclusive pins from one of our favorite pinmakers this side of the galaxy, then catch them at Booth #1332 at the con to pick them up.

  • Sean Murphy showed off an ice cold new Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back print (with colors by Simon Gough) headed to both San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con.

  • Don’t change that channel! Illustrator Peejay Catacutan (Image, IDW) will be taking over Saturday Morning Cards booth at San Diego Comic-Con to sign Street Fighter 2 items — as well some new cards still to be announced. Plus, you can slide into his DMs to ask about a commission.

  • How absolute is your love of Batman? Well, it’s about to absolutely get even bigger, when you set your sights on Jock’s Absolute Batman cover — which he “believes” is a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive.
