Question Of The Week #8: What Is Your Favorite Thing To Do At The Con At SDCC?

This year, in an effort to feature more attendees, rather than featuring just one per week — we’re featuring lots of you! We’ll have a new question each week, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media channels for each week’s question. Without further ado let’s get into this weeks question:

Roberta Peters

My favorite thing to do at SDCC is to hang with friends I see once a year!

Brendan
Garden Grove, CA

My favorite thing to do at SDCC is meeting up with my SDCC family/friends. This is the one time and place we consistently get to see one another every year!

Andrew Surya

Meeting comic book writers and artists, and getting my comic books signed.
Goldie V
South San Francisco, CA.

Aside from the offsites and panels at SDCC, my favorite thing to do at the con is the photo ops.

Deon Sinquefield
Houston, TX

Honestly speaking… My favorite thing to do is meet up with all the friends I’ve made over the years through SDCC. Friends like Chris Maze, Matt A, Ming Chen, Alex Kellerman, and many others. The friends I’ve made made SDCC a joy to attend… besides the OTHER cool stuff.

Luis Bayardo

Favorite things to do at Comic Con: Walking, shopping, and enjoying time with my son and wife. I’m from Tijuana, and every year we go to Comic-Con.

Santiago
Argentina

Buy art pieces and commissions like this one from Martin Hsu!

Participate in the Prize Mule!

Going every day to the Committed Comics booth to ask  for the UBlog team-related stuff like the trading cards (and hoping that Tom doesn’t mind haha.)

Scott Daigle

Is it too vague to say stroll the exhibit hall? Geek out on the groovy statutes, merchandise, books, booths, cosplays, artists, vendors (like the incredibly cool Tony Kim at the Hero Within booth) and just enjoy the general awesome chaos that is the con!

Kathy Czarnecki
San Diego, CA

I’ve gone to SDCC every year since 2007.  So many things I’ve enjoyed, but I never skip the opportunity to visit and support Fantagraphics Books.  That first year I met Jim Woodring ( Frank books) it’s been a must for me each year.

Harout K
Chatsworth, CA

One of the best things to do while attending San Diego Comic-Con any day or any night is to hit up the Ghirardelli Ice Cream Shop up on the Gaslamp Quarter.  Probably half a mile from the convention center.  From all that walking you would do, you’d definitely earned an ice cream sundae or shake.  Plus, you probably see some familiar faces that will hang out there.

This week’s question is easy — my favorite thing to do at the con is EVERYTHING!
It’s such a great vibe being there surrounded by so many people who love the same things. The lines can be a lot, and you can’t do everything, so there is always disappointment, but on the flip side, you can’t do everything, so there is always something to do. I love the panels, the con floor, the offsites, the banners and wraps, the Gaslamp, the marina, the food! It’s all so good.
If I had to choose one particular thing though, I guess it would be getting to hang with so many amazing people — usually at the Blog party while thinking back over the four days of the con.

Atlanta, GA

My favorite thing to do at SDCC is running around outside seeing all the activations! From big names like Hulu and FX to the out-of-left-field like Pudgy Penguin, there is always something unique to see and do.
While it can be hot from standing out in lines all day, the community is so welcoming and it’s easy to make line friends! Here are some I made last year in the Hulu line! Can’t wait to meet back up with y’all @callmedae and @mcluvinclone219!

Ariel Estandarte
Orland Park, Illinois

My favorite thing to do at the con is to meet and take pictures with fellow cosplayers. It’s during those times between my missions at the con when I’m not hunting for exclusives or stuck in long lines. It’s some of the most fun and relaxing times for me at the con.

Staci Moore
Los Angeles, CA

My favorite thing to do at SDCC is attend panels! I don’t need more stuff, so shopping is a second for me. It doesn’t matter what size the room or the panel, I enjoy it more than roaming the crowded show floor. Of course, Hall H panels are very exciting but I think my favorite thing to do is to sit in a random room and find out what’s next. You can learn something new and maybe get some unexpected swag. Plus, it’s cool and your feet don’t hurt! A panel room is where you really find your tribe.

I love going to panels!

Katina L.
San Diego, CA

For about 8 years, my favorite thing was to attend the WB party at the Float Bar on top of the Hard Rock. I used to sew the swag bags into dresses/suits and wore them while mingling with all the TV talent. One year I even got featured at the party!  After Covid, the parties went away. So now I spend my pre-con days sewing swag bags into other bags. I LOVE to see them in the wild! Reduce-Reuse-and Recycle!

My favorite thing is to see all the amazing cosplays everyone has come up with and take lots of pictures.

We couldn’t let the readers have all the fun, so some of the team here at the Unofficial Blog wanted to get in on the action as well. Let’s see who some of their favorites are.

My favorite thing to do at the convention is to wander Artist Alley and Small Press. It’s typically how we spend Preview Night before it gets super busy — exploring the amazing art and saying hi to so many of our vendor friends.

Kara Dupree
Greensboro, NC

My favorite thing to do at the con is to meet my favorite celebrities!
