Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium horror streaming platform, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in truly killer fashion —with a slate of fan-centered events, original programming, and its first-ever activation at San Diego Comic-Con.
As the streaming home for everything from arthouse dread to cult slashers, Shudder has long been a go-to for horror fans looking for bold, boundary-pushing content. Now, for its milestone year (dubbed “Shudder 10”), the platform is heading to Comic-Con.
[UPDATE July 10]
We have now learned that Clown in a Cornfield, which makes its streaming debut on Shudder and AMC+ on August 8, will be taking fans into the corn at San Diego Comic-Con, as part of the Clown in a Cornfield: The Experience.
Attendees will have a chance to test their mettle and evade Frendo on his cornfield home turf. The experience will immerse attendees within settings from the film, beginning in the town square during the Founders Day parade, which gives way to a corn maze. If you survive the maze, a refuge and celebration await with the Shudder Survivors Party. Guests will also find photo ops, games and giveaways.
Stop by from Thursday, July 24 – Saturday, July 26 from 12pm-8pm PT daily at the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter hotel terrace (401 K street).
Tickets will be available on Monday, July 21. Please visit @Shudder on Instagram and Twitter to obtain tickets. There will be a daily standby line available. This event is free and not recommended for children under 13. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian 18+.
There will also be a fan screening on Friday, July 25 at 10:30pm in the Marriott Film Room at the Marriott Marquis for Clown in a Cornfield.
[UPDATE June 27]
We learned more about what Shudder will be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con this year, as the Hollywood Reporter unveiled that the streamer will be bringing a cornfield maze installation to the Hilton Gaslamp area (which has been AMC’s home for several years) — for the Clown in a Cornfield series, with Frendo the clown.
While many cornfield mazes are cheerful, apple-picking activities, we can’t think that’s the kind that Shudder has in store for us. See you among the stalks in the Gaslamp.
