Under The Tents: Masked Republic, Scott C, KRS Comics, Jeff Pina, California Browncoats, Dan Parent

Here we are on July 2nd just a few short weeks away from San Diego Comic-Con. What that means is that the Comic-Con news is going to be coming in even heavier, and maybe you missed some of it. Maybe you are sitting at your work desk right now (or in bed, depending on what time you read this, I guess) and are wondering what awesome art you’ll find or what exclusives you need to get your hands on. Well, let me help you with those thoughts…

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Award winning artist and writer Dan Parent is bringing Jay and Silent Bob back together with Archie with a few exclusive SDCC covers. You can check out all of the covers over on his Threads post. [Insert snootchie bootchies quote here]

  • James Silvani makes regular appearances in UTT and this time the artist is back with another Dark Side Original featuring everyone’s favorite Jedi turned Sith Darth Vader.

  • Who doesn’t love a good tease? KRS Comics certainly does and they have taken to Threads to tease their All Star 58 Blind Bags.

  • Attention all Marvel Legends fans, SDCC will be the place to catch a look at the upcoming Dragon Man release. While it will not be sold at the show, you can probably take some awesome pictures of the display at the Hasbro booth.

  • Wrestling fans will be eating good at SDCC this year, no doubt, and comics company Masked Republic wants to make sure of that. They recently took to social media to tease something in the works for Comic-Con.

  • I always like to encourage Comic-Con attendees to explore every inch of the Small Press area because of all the gems you will find. One of those gems is Biolumen Press who recently announced they will be tabling at SDCC, and you should check them out at #O-11. They are launching their new book Nyakuza Noodle.

  • Keep an eye out for Metal Ninja Studios who will be promoting their “Concept to Comic” which is a proprietary full-stack comic production service. This service brings your first draft to a print-ready comic in six months.

  • The California Browncoats are back with merch that any Firefly fan would be proud to own. This canteen will be found at their Booth #A/7 and is a great way to keep hydrated during the day at Comic-Con.

  • You know who makes cardboard cool? And by cool I mean some really amazing cardboard creations. Rhode Montijo, that’s who! He will be stationed in their usual booth of #1329 where you will be able to find all of the Fantasmical goodies.

  • Did you miss out on the Elhoffer Design’s Gifted Claw Longline in the blue and gold offering? Well, some good news for you! Elhoffer Design will have a second design specifically for SDCC in a very limited amount, bub.

  • Looking for original art stickers for your Stanley or to add to your stack of SDCC stickers? Let me show you this yummy Spam Musubi stickers from Nellie Lê. You can find these are more at AA-23 in artist alley during the con.

  • Did you know there is a San Diego Comic-Con art show at the Manchester Grand Hyatt (and no badge required)? If you didn’t (or even if you did), you can check out these circuit board pendants that will be on display at the show from Elizabeth Wallace.
