UC San Diego Offers Cheap Lodging for San Diego Comic-Con 2026 to California College Students

As we wait for news of “Hotelpocalypse” for San Diego Comic-Con 2026… there may be another way. UC San Diego is once again offering a campus lodging option for eligible attendees, and it remains one of the more affordable alternatives if you don’t mind trading Gaslamp proximity for budget sanity.

This year, guests can choose between:

  • Wednesday, July 22 – Sunday, July 26
  • Thursday, July 23 – Monday, 27,

Lodging is available in a single-occupancy bedroom inside a shared suite on campus. Each room comes furnished with a Twin XL bed, desk, chair, wardrobe, and dresser, and the package also includes a complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning. Pricing starts at $760.50 per person through April 25 as an early bird rate, then increases to $845 per person. Check-in begins at 4pm and check-out is before 11am.

As in previous years, this option is limited to current California college students (UC, CSU, and community colleges), UC alumni, UC San Diego affiliates, and members of accredited private or nonprofit universities.

Reservations are also non-refundable, so definitely read the details before locking it in. But if you meet the eligibility criteria and are looking for a calmer, more affordable place to crash during con week — and don’t mind making the trip into the Gaslamp — it’s a solid option to keep on your radar.
