Under the Tents 2026: Star Wars Visions Tsukumo, Sgt. Slaughter, Matt Kindt, Patrick Ballesteros x Priscilla Wilson

Whelp, it’s Mother’s Day weekend again. A sincere wish for a lovely day to all the Moms, Grandmas, Step-Moms, Aunties, fur baby-mamas, folks who are missing their Moms, siblings taking on the parental role, no-contact peeps who would rather skip the day altogether, and anyone who has or has had a Mom.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s move on to pressing matters. We have seen some very specific signs that San Diego Comic-Con will be here before we know it. Yesterdays put up their shirts for preorder. The ACE parking lottery opened. The first wave of Special Guests was announced. Like the red-breasted robin signaling the start of spring, these things all signal that SDCC is… OMG, only about 10 WEEKS AWAY?!?! Are you kidding me? Why didn’t anyone tell me??!!? Y’all are no help at all! SMH

Now, let’s look at this news that you might have missed this week:

  • Eggdrop Ramen, aka Vince Alvendia isn’t just doing commissions for SDCC. He’s also working on some new Star Wars pieces for the show, keeping his subject matter going in the background for inspiration.

  • The Jekyll Island Chronicles Omnibus, a chonky 548-page tome of heart-pumping action, will be launched at San Diego Comic-Con. Steampunk and historical fiction fans take note!

  • Sweet and spooky are two of my favorite things, so you best believe I took note that illustrator Mary Ann, aka Ghost Egg, revealed their schedule and will be at Artist Alley #FF-10 during San Diego Comic-Con. See you spooky babes there!

  • Hall of Fame wrestler and voice actor “Sgt. Slaughter” posted his stacked schedule over on Facebook recently. In July he’ll touch ground in Virginia, Iowa and eventually end the month in California, at San Diego Comic-Con. Make sure to stop and see him… “and that’s an order!”

  • 3D Pop Artist Charles Fazzino can often be found with the gang from Choice Fine Art, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for all his SDCC details, as he’s only teasing in this recent post on Instagram.

  • In a week that included May the 4th and Revenge of the 6th, one of the biggest pieces of news to drop was from a galaxy far, far away (and no, I’m not talking about the Star Wars Celebration ticket debacle.) Eiichi Shimizu & Tomohiro Shimoguchi, of the Nadegata Circus, posted that their Viz Media Star Wars Visions Tsukumo book will make its debut at San Diego Comic-Con. You can bet we’ll be posting more details when we get them.

  • The brilliant minds from Syndicate Collectibles have posted a few sneaky silhouettes of some of their upcoming figures that will appear at SDCC. No word yet if we’ll be able to buy them, or if they will just be on display, but either way, they have my attention.
  • Let’s take a break from our regular schedule post to bring you some crochet news. First, the Geeky Hooker has conjured up this delightful version of the Ol’ Canucklehead Wolverine which will be “dropped” during SDCC for one lucky finder.

  • Fellow yarn artist Heather, of Painted World Fiberarts, will be offering this adorable Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece for one lucky Cotton Candy Lover. They also included some info about when and where their drops will be taking place.

  • Absolute madman Matt Kindt (a serious comics polymath, if that can be a thing) posted his summer schedule on Facebook, and he will be back at San Diego Comic-Con. Now, let’s get Oni Press to bring some exclusives for his new Mind MGMT series, yeah?

  • To preface this next tidbit, I just want to leave this here, becuase it’s going to describe A LOT of us readers and UBlog followers.

  • Is anyone else still lamenting not getting in on the Bull Airs x Atomic Toybox x Topps Mars Attacks Glow-in-the-Dark San Diego Comic-Con exclusive sneakers? I’m very chuffed to hear that they will be back with another exclusive release. Whatever they have cooking up for this year will be equally stupendous.

  • Erotic comics artist Dark Chibi Shadow, aka DCS, is busy at work preparing for summer convention season, and that includes making items for San Diego Comic-Con. We wish you luck buckling down, DCS, and look forward to what you’ll be bringing.

Here's my upcoming cons btw!www.darkchibishadow.com/convention-s…I've been so busy because I'm trying to make both Anthrocon and San Diego Comic con really special. And I'm doing it! But, it's a LOT of work…Just one novel to finish and a whole comic to finish and an episode left 😱😭😘

  • Over on Kickstarter, you can pick up a copy of Gregbo Watson‘s Plan 39 From Outer Space #1 She-Ra Cosplay SDCC exclusive. If you’re attending the show, you can select to pick it up there. If you’re not attending SDCC, you can have it shipped after the show.

  • Troma team member Daniel Blake, aka Dan the Tromite, is looking for a few good Troma cosplayers. If you’re “not just another pretty face”, reach out and then “tell all your scum friends that things are gonna change in this town.” This means that Troma intends to have a presence at the show in July.

  • I’m sure we’ll hear much more in the coming weeks what trading card purveyors Saturday Morning Cards will be bringing to SDCC, but the fine folks at the Phantom fansite Chronicle Chamber got the scoop on the upcoming volume of The Phantom cards which will debut at the show. Expect new sketch cards, new case design and new exciting limited cards. You never find the Phantom, he finds you… but you’ll want to find these cards.

  • The Los Angeles based duo, Biolumen Press has posted their convention schedule. San Diego Comic-Con attendees can meet them at Small Press #O-11. The Kickstarter for their Into The Void Tarot Deck, based on their Warhead graphic novel series, is now live.

  • Artist Jose Pulido has begun work on a series of original art pieces that he intends to bring to San Diego Comic-Con. These little cuties, rendered in Pulido’s playful calavera style, are irresistible.

  • And lastly today, the very lucky fashion designers who were selected to present their DC-inspired couture at the 2026 Her Universe Fashion Show during San Diego Comic-Con are now being notified. Congratulations to those who were selected and “Make It Work!”
