What To Expect: SDCC Preparation for May 2026

May has arrived, which means Comic-Con is no longer some far-off idea — it’s right around the corner, and it’s unofficially “San Diego Comic-Con news season”.

Prepared? If not, you’re in good company. No one ever feels completely ready for everything SDCC throws at them (including us!). The trick isn’t trying to have it all figured out from day one, but rather keeping up as things unfold. Announcements, exclusives, panels, offsites… it all moves fast. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered so you don’t miss a thing.

Here’s what you can expect for San Diego Comic-Con news and announcements during the month of May.

Parking

By now, you’ve (hopefully) survived Hotelpocalypse, which means the next hurdle in Comic-Con prep is parking. It’s usually the last major piece to fall into place before the convention, and like everything else, it’s a lottery! Managed by Ace Parking, a lottery sign-up form will open any day now (last year it was open from May 8-May 27), before you’re assigned a group and a date to purchase your parking (likely in early June).

Exclusive Announcements

May is when the Comic-Con exclusives season typically starts to stir, and we already have several signs that more companies are announcing earlier than ever. Already this year, we’ve seen reveals and announcements from NECA, Factory Entertainment, and artists like Patrick Ballesteros and Karen Hallion. So what will May bring? We’ll have to wait to see, but last year Hallmark helped kick things off in May.

Offsite Announcements

We’ve already had several offsites already announced, including the return of Funko Fundays, news that Kevin Smith is bringing his live shows back, early details on this year’s Her Universe Fashion Show, and more. But expect plenty more (though the majority come in June and July)

You can always find a list of offsites on our event calendar.

New SDConCast Season

Yes, the new season of the SDConCast will be back this month, starting Tuesday, May 5! We’ll be doing live shows on Tuesday’s again this year, and we’ve already got an exciting schedule of upcoming guests to talk movies, TV, comics, and behind-the-scenes making of Comic-Con (including several guests we have wanted for years). In addition, each week we’ll continue to keep you up to date on all the latest news, to help ensure you’re as prepared as possible for July.
