No SDCC news in the past week spoke to me more than the official reveal of the annual Blood Drive shirt. Unfortunately, the MCU-sponsored shirt streak is sadly broken, I guess, because this year’s summer MCU pic, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Sony and not Disney? Oh well, Spidey is Spidey. I always appreciate my annual free t-shirt wardrobe update, courtesy of the Blood Drive and whatever the rest of SDCC will have in store.
Anyways, here’s the latest roundup of news that’s fit to print post on social media. As always, if you knew about everything below already, please consider joining our team:
- On this edition of “vague and cryptic panel confirmations,” we have content creator Erica Fett! Welcome to the club, Erica!
YALL. Holy cow. I’m going to b a part of a legendary panel at San Diego Comic Con this year. More info to come but my excitement cannot be contained right now!! 🥹🥹

- On this edition of “panel confirmations with actual details,” Shi creator and artist Billy Tucci shared *gasp* concrete information with a description, panelists, date, time, and location information for a Sunday panel that will celebrate 30 years of “bad girl” art. Thank you, Billy!
#SDCC Panel Alert #1!
BRING ON THE BAD GIRLS!
Thirty years ago, the original “Bad Girl” comics spawned legions of devoted fans and multitudes of pale imitations. Three decades later, the genre not only survives, it thrives! Get the perspective of those who were there at the… pic.twitter.com/2NeTFt6qyC

- On this edition of “posts with shipping boxes,” Icon Heroes is beginning to ramp up their SDCC preparation. They had me at “KB Toys-inspired store experience.”
- On this edition of “artists sharing booth locations,” artist and illustrator Ellie (or L.E. Winders) (@cholestrol233) will be posted up in Artists’ Alley #DD-14.
- On this edition of “exclusives teases,” Beast Kingdom has answered the call with six silhouettes, of which four will be SDCC-only. Some are more obvious than others (to this idiot, anyway). Can you get them all?
On this edition ofOkay, I’ll stop with that. But we do have another exclusive tease. R.E. Clifton, a designer at pop culture apparel company Bull Airs, shared a sneak peek at an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes jacket.
- Professionals finally getting to attend SDCC after making it a career goal is always great to see. So, having said that, congratulations to author Kamilah Cole! You made it! Let us know about that appearance schedule ASAP, though!
- Writer and colorist David Baron (with Absolute Batman and lots more DC credits to his name) shared his full appearance schedule, including stops in Artist Alley and the hosting of his annual Bar Con. We’ll be including the information as part of our annual Autograph Signing Schedules that will launch in the coming weeks (hey, look at that, now I’m writing vaguely).
- Yo, Joe! Baron also announced that he’ll be bringing a limited amount of this G.I. Joe #2 cover with him to SDCC.
- Speaking of appearance schedules, P Dot’s Comics (Booth #1017) will be hosting writer and artist Tony Daniel from Wednesday to Friday.
- Will this be a big Dungeon Crawler Carl year? Feels like the choices are “Yes” or “Yes.” Here’s a Royal Court print that’s coming from DCC artist Brett Bean.
- More DCC! Big Clutch Comics owner Shawn Kirkham announced the print runs for the Dungeon Crawler Carl #0 Nathan Gooden cover variant in trade dress (LE 500), full foil (LE 300), and bloody foil logo (LE 150) forms.

- Ah heck, what’s a third Dungeon Crawler Carl update? Illustrator Nate Lovett may or may not be bringing this print to San Diego. We sure hope he will!
Finished up my #dungeoncrawlercarl piece. Hoping to have prints in time for Origins Game Fair and San Diego Comic Con.#dcc #goddamnitdonut #mongoisappalled #youwillnotbreakme

- Glass sculptor artist and Neacol Miller is showed off some of her Chibi Island (on donuts!) miniatures that will be heading to San Diego next month.
- Friend of the UBlog Martin Hsu, with a couple of teases: First, he feels the need. The need for dragons. Does he feel enough of a need to turn this initial sketch into a wood panel painting? Second, Amaze! Amaze! Amaze! Could we be getting some Rocky and Grace art, Martin-style?
Dreaming of dragons… #SDCC
