Under the Tents 2026: “Big Clutch,” Sorah Suhng, Nan Hockin, Denys Cowan, Calico Critters,

Ahhh…another day, another kajillion announcements, flooding all the social medias and interwebs, the TickyTockers and the Tweeterverse. First off, we released our List of Announced Panels, where bon-bon eating Kerry compiles all of the panel news that we have found into one handy-dandy place. Secondly, a metric tonne of events and offsites have been added to our Calendar, you should probably check it out.

But now, even more “stuff” you should take note of:

  • Marvel artist Sean Chen (X-Men & Wolverine, Iron Man) is the first guest that 247 Comics has announced for a series of exclusive signings at Comic-Con. Their booth is #1837, and their full schedule will be announced soon.

  • I’ll be honest with you, by the end of this post, you’re going to be really tired of me saying the word “tease.” But what else would you call this post from Brian Cook, the man who has been putting Butts on Things for 10 years now? He’s teasing us with tushies, and there is no other way to say it.

  • Look who is buzzing by to say hello! It’s the Calico Critters. They are coming back to San Diego Comic-Con and will no doubt have an adorable booth (and hopefully an exclusive or two). Details soon.

  • Hey, author and illustrator of Cat People: A Comic Collection, Hannah Hillam, I don’t know what you used as a photo reference, but this is the spitting image of me yesterday at about 11am CT. I guess I’m a muse now?! Anyway, Hannah says they are trying out some new things for SDCC, including this magnet.

  • If you hear a rustling in the underbrush, it’s probably just the book goblins circling their wagons and gathering their tote bags, a buzz with all the upcoming book signing news for Comic-Con. How do I know this? Because I, too, am a book goblin. Lucky for us, writer Shane Hawk was excited enough to post his signing at the Penguin Random House Booth #1514/1515 on Saturday, July 25 at 1:30pm, which will include a free galley of his forthcoming Never Whistle At Night Part 2: Back For Blood.

  • When one door closes, another one opens… or something like that. That is the lesson from stuntman and author Eric Jacobus, who will have his own panel on Friday, July 24 at 4pm called “Badass On A Budget.”

  • Here we go with the teases again, this time from Mondo, who posted a pair of them. The first is a flocked Masters of the Universe Panthor. The second one, strangely enough, seems to be a recreation of a headache I had yesterday? I’m not sure how they got that so accurately, but I guess I really am a muse! (Kidding, Obviously, it’s “Keldor, the original identity of the iconic Masters of the Universe villain, Skeletor” or so Wikipedia told me).

  • Mad Cave is gearing up for the launch of Escape From New York: Escape From Chicago, which is absolutely what it sounds like: our man Snake Plisskin, stuck at the Belmont Junction, waiting on a train, with no idea how to get out of the city. Maybe he won’t, you’ll just have to read it when it comes out! HOWEVER! Marco Santucci posted on Twitter that he has an exclusive variant cover for #1 and indicated it would be available at SDCC.

  • Kid Heroes will be welcoming martial artist Doug Marcaida (Forged in Fire) back to San Diego Comic-Con, presumably so fans can learn the latest about his Filipino heritage and suspenseful graphic novel series Lineage. More details will follow.

  • Ahhh, here we go… someone who knows what we want to see: days, times and details! Gold star for Drew Edwards, creator of Halloween ManEdwards has two panels, one Networking event for creators, and will also be signing each day in Artists Alley. BUT WAIT! You can also find him at the Red 5 Comics Booth #1808.

  • The new novel by Siang Lu, Ghost Cities, has received early praise and is even the winner of the Mile’s Franklin Literary Award. The hardcover version is due out from Simon & Schuster’s Summit Books on August 25, but will be for sale as an early exclusive at San Diego Comic-Con. We (the other book goblins and myself) are hoping for a signing, and anxiously await that announcement.

  • When Special Guest Denys Cowan was announced, the first thing I wondered was “But where will he be signing?” I didn’t have to wait too long for an answer. The multi-award winning artist and producer will be signing with the Essential Sequential team at Booth #4601.

  • Woah! Creator of some of (my) comic store’s best selling comics (Deadly Class! Kaya!) will be large and in charge at San Diego Comic-Con. Wes Craig will be hunkering down at the Felix Comic Art Booth #4612 on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Artist Nan Hockin has been busy getting her products ready for SDCC. Like, really, really, REALLY busy. In addition to a huge selection of original artwork, she will also have a variety of her felt ornaments. Meet us at her booth, #F-11.
  • You can count on illustrator Jeff Pina to be ROLLING OUT more and more SDCC items this time of year. For instance, these sweet Transformers stickers.

  • If you only see in Bronze, Gold and Silver, then you’re gonna wanna get your eyes checked. Seriously, that’s a problem. But after that, steer yourself over to Booth #815 where Last Chance Comics will be set up for the first time since 2017 with all the vintage comics you’re looking for.

  • RANGERS ASSEMBLE! As part of their 10th Anniversary, Con Rangers is working on their very first meet-up. It’s about time, right? We will have all the exciting details “soon.”

  • “Big Clutch” Shawn Kirkham is continuing his trend of bringing some certifiably cool variant covers to SDCC. This latest is Action Comics #1100 by Sorah Suhng, available at booth #1101. Please don’t look for Action Comics #1101 at booth #1100, everyone will be VERY confused. You’ll be able to select from trade dress and/or trade-less foil, limited to 1000 copies each, which isn’t very many when you think about it in total number of Action Comics fans there are across the whole world. And Krypton too, if it hadn’t been absolutely obliterated right before Superman’s parents shuttled him to Earth. I’m sure there would be some fans there, too. If only.

  • When this is the saddest panel name I think I have ever heard. But “Eternity Alone With Barely Any Swag” only SOUNDS sad…it won’t actually be sad….will it? You should go find out. All the Futurama fans will be there, at least the ones who enjoy collecting, will be. It’s Thursday, July 23 at 9pm in Room 32AB.

  • Steve Ditko fans have a lot to look forward to, as there will be a very special panel, hosted by Steve’s nephew Mark and dedicated to his truly “Amazing” career. It’ll all take place on Sunday, July 26 at 11:15am in Room 5AB.

  • Dan Quintana fans will want to pay attention to AC Pop Comics during SDCC. Quintana is the first of many guests they will be having.  Follow them on Facebook, or watch these posts for more details and announcements.

  • The good folks at Toy Temple always bring their “A” Game to SDCC, even if they are usually located in Hall G. As this Instagram post says, they will be “bringing a massive lineup of exclusive items and announcements” to the event. Unfortunately, that’s all the news we have for you. You see….it’s NEWS that soon we will have MORE NEWS. It’s like an A”NEWS”-BOUCHE, which, for those of you who don’t know, well, you should just go watch the new season of The Bear, which starts….OH MY GOD IT STARTED TODAY. Sorry folks, I gotta wrap this shiz up. Peace out!

OK, let’s move along here now, nobody actually reads this part, do they? Anything we missed? Probably, but are you really going to take the time to email it to us? Please just Tweet us instead. Let’s see…what else….ok, you want more posts like this? You’ve fallen behind on all of them, well, here, try this link. What else, what else? We’re burning daylight here folks…oh yes…commissions.
