Under the Tents 2026: Collider, Geeki Tiki, Emma LeRae, Patrick Ballesteros, Geeky Hooker

It’s only four days into June and we’re already hip deep in news again. Did you see that we’re getting some kind of “HotD” again this year? And the Blood Drive T-Shirt was revealed, too. It’s almost like SDCC is next month!

Oh wait….SDCC is next month!

Live Look At The Author Realizing How Little Time She Has Before SDCC

While I try to reckon with the reality, let’s check out a whole handful of panel news (including one with Dungeon Crawler Carl writer Matt Dinniman), teases galore from BB-CRE.8 and Patrick Ballesteros, and much more.

Let’s take a look-see-peeksie, shall we?:

  • How about we start off with a tease? BB-CRE.8 has revealed that their SDCC daily exclusives will be “MARVELous” and with a glimpse of Cyclops we can see that this one is looking very 1997…as in X-Men ’97.

  • Here’s another tease, this time much more cryptic, but just as cool…so cool, you might even call it FROSTY! Steven Weintraub of Collider will have more panels than ever before, and even he’s chuffed at the guests he’s lining up.

Washington is getting a friend!!!!I figured with all of the shows I've been doing in California, and two more quickly approaching, I should spread the love.

  • Also over on Bluesky, writer Brandon Hoang announced that he will be making a return to San Diego Comic-Con. In what capacity, we know not yet, perhaps it’s for the forthcoming AVATAR LEGENDS: Masters of the Elements or perhaps for Minecraft: One Last Quest? The possibilities are exciting!

I’m going back to San Diego Comic Con after so many years! I have some events scheduled but trying to make the most of the weekend. If anyone needs someone with my kinda resume on your panel to talk writing, kidlit, toons, etc, hit me up!

  • Members of the McFarlane Toys Digital Discord have a few chances to earn a coveted spot to the popular SDCC Skyline Showcase, an invite-only event on Wednesday, July 22. Top 10 members on the leaderboard have until June 12 to RSVP and a few additional spots will be released via lottery, which will close on June 19. See the site for more details.
  • Comic-Con International has announced that the 2026 recipients of the Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award are creators of Elfquest, Wendy and Richard Pini. The Pinis donated $500,000 to create the Wendy and Richard Pini Comics and Cartoon Endowment at Columbia University and will be presented with the esteemed award during the Eisner Award ceremony on Friday, July 24.

  • Speaking of Comic-Con International. Would you like a summer job where you get to tell people what to do and where to stand? Perhaps you’d like to check out this job listing for Temporary Line Management? Transportation and lodging are not provided.
  • Illustrator of the book School For Extraterrestrial Girls: Girls in Space, Jamie Noguchi, was admiring the cover on the book on Blue Sky and in the process said that he will be available to sign copies at San Diego Comic-Con. Take note book goblins!

BOOOOK!!!! I haven't seen it in my face yet, but it looks so good! Go buy it and then meet Jeremy at ALA later this month to get him to sign it and find me at SDCC and I'll sign it!!!!

  • It’s better late than never over at the Facebook page for artist and writer Sorah Suhng, who recently decided that an event schedule was a good idea. With several of the events already done and dusted, we’re looking forward to the one about halfway down the page, called SDCC.

  • If you like Patrick Ballesteros and you don’t follow him on Instagram (and check his stories daily) you might just be missing some nifty little teases here and there. Luckily, my reflexes are Drax style and I was able to screenshot them for you before they disappeared. You’re welcome! Anyway… looks like we have a sticker and then… what is that other one? They look fragile and breakable… is it chocolate? Is it glass? Is it a case of 1980’s carnival mirrors and Patrick is going to make us throw darts at balloons to win them?
  • Beeline Creative and their Geeki Tikis are celebrating 10 years of putting the pop culture spin on tiki vessels. Do you think that this post on Instagram, announcing their return to SDCC, holds any clues as to what they will be offering?

  • Ahhh yes… these are the sort of announcements that we revel in. Saying something while saying absolutely nothing at all, thank you Joanne Starer, writer of Total Suplex of the Heart, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville and… well, some other awesome book which Starer says MIGHT (wink wink) be announced at SDCC.

I know some of you are probably like, "Hey, where are your new books? What are you doing?" And I WISH I could tell you. But I've been doing a lot of writing, and there will be new stuff soon! You might even hear about it at SDCC.
