Under the Tents 2026: Jonboy Meyers, Collider, Sanford Greene, Patrick Ballesteros, Martin Hsu

Happy Tuesday, friends. If you are keeping track (like me) you know that there are only 5 more Tuesdays left before we all descend on San Diego for Comic-Con. Will the airport be decked out to welcome us? What wrap will be freaking us out from the façade of the Hilton Bayfront? When will the line for Hall H start? These questions will soon be answered, but before that, how about some exclusives? A few panel reveals?

Let’s get after it:

  • Lea Seidman, who has worked for every major comics publisher, and also some minor ones too, showed off on Instagram just a couple of the staggering ONE HUNDRED mini art pieces they have created for San Diego Comic-Con. These one-of-a-kind masterpieces are 2.5″x3.5″ and will be available for $40 each. If you have your heart on a special character, you can always try for a commission as well.

  • Someone else who is hard at work on originals is our friend Patrick Ballesteros. Along with a peek of a selection of them, Ballesteros also announced a very modest and long-overdue price increase for his mini-originals. Still an incredible deal, at any price. Unless it was like, you know…sixty-bajillion-dollars or something.
  • Over on his blog, bestselling author and very-early podcaster Scott Sigler (Earthcore, Generations Trilogy, Slay) announced a pair of panels he will be on. On Thursday, July 23 at 7pm you can find him on “When The Void Screams Back: The Latest in Sci-Fi Horror” and on Friday, July 24th at 2pm he will be at the Scribe Awards & Media Tie-In Panel. Location TBA.

  • If you’re a Duck and Egg fan (and who isn’t really?… unless you’re Aerion Targaryen. Or from House Blackfyre. Anyone else though should be, I would think), you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for this new Hedge Knight piece from Martin Hsu, destined for SDCC.

  • Also destined for San Diego Comic-Con, soooooooo many more things from Martin Hsu. To celebrate his 21st anniversary, he’s going all-in and all-out.

  • Virtual streamer Snuffy will have their Senpai Squad collaboration merch at San Diego Comic-Con, according to this tweet. No exact details regarding a location, but a look at the Senpai Squad Events Calendar shows that they will indeed have a booth at the event.

  • If someone could please upload a few new San Diego Comic-Con gifs to Giphy, that sure would help make Collider Frosty / Steven Weintraub’s teasing tweets just a little more exciting. Here’s the second of his three panel announcements, it’s “Producers on Producing”. Details are scarce (non-existent) but he does hint that it will feature the producer of a much-debated property.

  • A Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz piece is next in line for what artist Jin Yung Kim (JYK All Day) has planned for SDCC. This one is so close to being finished that I can practically taste it. (But I won’t because, as my Mom reminds me, “That is WEIRD, Erin.”) Would you love to see this image on a desk/play mat? Let JYK know!

    • Fan-made independent film project Axanar, a mockumentary style prelude to the events in the Star Trek: Original Series, has launched a crowdfunding effort for their Geronimo Class Blueprints with a live video on Facebook. Deep within the video (about 48 minutes deep) they announced that the premiere for the next installment, The Gathering Storm, will debut on Sunday, July 26 during San Diego Comic-Con. There will be free screenings at the Digital Gym Cinema, 1100 Market Street, in San Diego. Please follow their socials for how to get tickets and more announcements.

  • Astro Vault Comics and Ten FWD Comics will have a variant cover for Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #11 at San Diego Comic-Con. It will be limited to 777 copies and feature a breathtaking image from Japanese artist God Tail on a wraparound cover. If you are concerned about securing one of these for yourself, they are available for pre-sale, to ship after the show.

  • Actress and producer Paula Garcés will be providing the exclusive video introduction for the “Women Making Comics” panel, taking place on Friday, July 24 at 2pm at the Marriott Marquis Grand 10/11. Panelists include: Waverly Lim (Kwento Comics), Cecilia Lim (Kwento Comics), Hilarie Schmalke (Midnight Factory) Janet Wade (Toshigawa Universe), and moderator Brett Schenker of Graphic Policy.

  • Very popular cover artist Jonboy Meyers revealed on Facebook that he will have a variant cover for very popular comic book Absolute Batman #22 and that he will have them at the very popular convention, San Diego Comic-Con. A small portion of them will be sold online on June 16. Multiple versions will be available, including trade editions and virgin foil, both raw and signed with COA.

  • Now that Heroes Con is over, the good folks over at Felix Comic Art will be setting their sights firmly on San Diego Comic-Con. And with their roster of high-caliber exclusive artists, you’re going to want to set your own sights on their newsletters and social media posts to find out who and what they are bringing with them. For now, let this bonkers Wolverine painted sketch from Sanford Greene keep you motivated.

  • The 90’s are all the rage again (FINALLY!), and that includes Joel Schumacher’s 1997 film Batman & Robin, which gave us the delightful Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. JazzInc Dioramas is paying homage to that very character with a 1/6 figure that they have announced will be shown at San Diego Comic-Con.

  • I never like to drop negative news here in the UTT, it’s supposed to be a place of joy and celebration! But the reality is that sometimes the news ain’t great and it’s my duty to report that, too. So here goes, let’s rip the bandage off quickly…..One of our favorite designers, Choco Bash from TransformARTive is currently in wait-list limbo. They “might” have something at a friendly Small Press booth, but no plans for anything besides that.

  • Kiki, of the aptly names Kiki Doodles, is working on the purrrrrfect lanyard for cat lovers. In a reply on Bluesky she said she hope to have them for San Diego Comic-Con. Puuuuuhaps that is also where we might see the blind box cat pin the mentioned in the following post?

I'm finally trying out lanyards 👀#artpost

  • Sure, cosplay is fun, but what about taking it to the next level and CAUSE-playing. You could use your interest and energies for a good cause, and The Avengers Initiative members, a national volunteer not-for-profit group of Marvel costume fans, will share how at their panel during San Diego Comic-Con. All details regarding date, time and location are TBA, but you can follow their post of Facebook for updates.

  • Speaking of cosplay, if you’re planning on a Gym-Bro Skeletor get-up, or maybe an old school Teela, you’ll want to join in on even more fun on Saturday, July 25 at 12:30pm on the mezzanine level (conveniently timed so you won’t miss Mattel’s Skeletor Cosplay Pose-Off). There’s a Facebook event so you can follow along.
  • Artist Sean Forney has announced his 2026 exclusives, including Scarlet Huntress Meets Wendigo Vol. 2 #2 with an homage to Erik Larsen’s cover to Spawn #262. Copies are limited to just 25 pieces each of the trade dress and the virgin variant cover. You can snag them both at either Artist Alley #EE-03 or Small Press K-03.

  • Are you the “Data” of your office or friend group? No, I don’t mean that you have yellow eyes! I mean with flawless recall and lacking in the awareness to recognize social cues. In any case, if you are the Data, or know someone who is, you’ll appreciate this new sticker from artist Jeff Pina, slated for an SDCC release.

  • And lastly today, let’s say hello to this crocheted Doraemon, the latest creation from the Geeky Hooker. Follow along with their socials during San Diego Comic-Con to find out where this and all their other “finders-keepers” gifts will be dropped during the convention.

Anything we missed? Let us know by dropping us a line, or tweet us at @SD_Comic_Con.

Still need a badge for San Diego Comic-Con? Sorry. We can’t help. But maybe try the Contest Hub?
