Under the Tents 2026: Dan Parent, Nathan Fillion, Stage Tour, Karepango

Happy Sunday, friends!

Today we are celebrating my sweet sixteen, because it’s my sixteenth Under the Tents for this season. I’ve spent more time working on San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog work than I have my actual work this week. In July (and parts of June and August, if I’m being honest), I am a notorious work shirker, shirking my real work but happy to put in the hours for the Ublog. To be fair, going to San Diego Comic-Con, and having a fun, successful time while doing so, can also be a lot of work. And there are thousands of those who are doing ACTUAL work at the convention. Inside, outside, 24 hours a day, keeping it all running smoothly so the rest of us can have fun. Thinking about it blows my mind; just how many people it takes to make this whole thing “work.”

ANYWAY! I’m getting too sappy, let’s switch gears and talk about the goodies you’ll want to buy and the people you’ll want to meet…all of it coming NEXT WEEK! 😳

  • Unknown Comics is up to reveal number ten, only two more to go. This time it’s from Tyler Kirkham who captured the Absolute Batman version of Two-Face from issue #21, in shiny gold foil. Unknown Comics will be at Booth #1001 during the convention.
  • I’m a big, BIG fan of the rhythm-action games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. BIG FAN! My partner Jeremy and I still break out Rock Band at least weekly, even after completing our quest to play all 900+ plus songs in our library, in alphabetical order. It took us a year. It was like our own personal sabbatical. ANYWAY! This post from Stage Tour, the upcoming Red Octane game coming this fall, got me JAZZED. If you are looking for me inside the convention center, Booth #2834 should be the very first place you look. [Editor’s Note: You should definitely not look for Erin in panel rooms!] Even if you’re not looking for me, go there anyway, they seem like fun folks.

  • Infinite Statue is bringing exclusives with them, the first of which is this Bloodsport Frank Dux 1/10 PVC Bloody Version. It will be on sale at their booth over on the Hall A side of the convention center at #321. Be sure to visit them, they’re coming a long way from their base of operations in Italy.

  • Nan Hockin is still hard at work on originals that she will bring to SDCC, including this variety of the Hojakdo inspired Derpy. She will also be offering a very fun special deal with her “non-mystery” bags, a bargain at only $5 each. Spending over $50 already? You’ll get a non-mystery” bag for free. AND THAT’S NOT ALL! Widow’s Bay‘s best municipal employee is getting a limited run of her very own print. Navigate to #F-11 on the Hall A side of the convention center (the far right size as you’re looking at the building) to visit Nan.
  • After you visit Nan, head right over to #F-12, it’s real close. There you’ll be able to catch artist Dan Parent. He’s been working on the Archie comics for over thirty years. He’s already announced three exclusives that he’s bringing, and they are full of wholesome Archie fun.

  • More exciting goodness from Nooligan is also on its way to Booth #5567. They recently revealed their “free with purchase” gift for Saturday, July 25, a Mighty Sticker Sheet, plus two new prints, each limited to 25 pieces.
  • Freelance artist Dylan Bonner will be exhibiting at Comic-Con for the very first time. You know what that means! You should visit him in Artist Alley at Booth #II-03 (that’s in the Hall G area of the convention center, over on the left side if you’re facing the building.) Bonner is going to have some foil versions of their newest Sleeping Beauty and Alice prints.

  • Friend of the UBlog Gary Sassaman has plenty to be excited about this year. On Thursday, July 23 at 11am in Room 9, he will be joined by Mark Evanier and John Morrow for another edition of Tales From My Spinner Rack LIVE. This edition of the panel will be focusing on the final years of the life of Jack Kirby, as well as Morrow’s newest book Marvelmation: Jack Kirby’s Final Act in Comics & Animation. If just seeing Kirby Krackle makes you smile, this is one you won’t want to miss.

  • Artist Sarah Kipin debuted her entire San Diego Comic-Con spread, and it’s as bountiful as a Ruby Tuesday salad bar (unless I’ve been through, then the croutons are completely demolished and there are zero bacon bits to be found.) Kipin will be at Booth #2015 all weekend long, under the Nucleus umbrella with Scott C. and several other folks.

  • Comics book retailers Knight of Comics has some fun variant covers planned for release at San Diego Comic-Con, including these two; Transformers #34 with art by Alan Quah, full art, and limited to 750 copies, and Corpse Knight #4 with full art by Shimhaq, limited to 500 copies. Both of them will join the rest of their line up at booth #4401.
  • Paola Bascom honors the tea-spilling lovers of the world. If you’re a Tsismis and like a bit of hot gos, as in gossip, you’ll want to visit Artists Alley HH-17.

  • Over on Instagram, artist John Royale posted what he says will be a Zenescope exclusive cosplay variant cover for San Diego Comic-Con. The official map says that Zenescope will be at booth #2301 so you know where to go to add this to your collection.

  • Author of Nuclear Power by Fanbase Press will be signing twice at their Small Press Booth, #0-03, during San Diego Comic-Con. Catch her on Saturday, July 25 or Sunday, July 26, from 11am – 2pm each day.

  • And lastly today, José Pulido will have five new sugar skull sticker packs available at Comic-Con at booth #H-03. Each pack will be $8, or you can stock up with 3 pack for $20.
