WonderPost 2024: Paul Reiser, Marv Wolfman, Brian Buccellato, Megan Porch

The WonderCon panel schedule dropped a day earlier than expected and we spent most of the afternoon perusing all the descriptions and the panelists. What did you see that you’re really excited about? We will have a breakdown of all the excitement on Tuesday, March 19 on a live SDConCast, discussing all the details. It’s the first official podcast since badge sales last fall and frankly, we’ve missed you! As prep for the podcast, take a look at our highlights post

Now, let’s take a look at the (non-panel) news you might have missed:

  • Collectible items are cool but collectible items with fancy packaging are even cooler. Basia “Bosh” Tluchak certainly thinks so, adding some fun packaging for the keychains they will have at Artist Alley Booth #D-53.

  • We have to wait a little longer to see what Toddland is cooking up for Bob’s Burgers, but here’s a little magical nibble for you.

  • Here’s another handful of original pieces that Jeff Pina will have at Artist Alley Booth # C-59. We don’t think the Pokémon ones will last long at all. Don’t forget that there is no running allowed in the exhibit hall but like Pina says, get their QUICK.

  • Another artist who has been hard at work creating original pieces for Wonder Con is Robert Griggs. It’s Griggs’ first time at WonderCon (HUZZAH!) and by the looks of it, he’s going to fit in perfectly. Give him a shout on Twitter if you have a character you’d like to see him sketch.

  • Golden Apple Comic & Art is hosting a blockbuster comic book signing on Sunday, March 31 at Booth #204 featuring Paul Reiser, Leon Reiser, Hans Rodionoff and Brian Volk-Weiss, creators of the new What If…ALIENS comic book from Marvel. Yes, *that* Paul Reiser, who played Carter Burke in the movie. He had co-writing duties on the book. They will be signing free with purchase of the comic, but won’t be signing any memorabilia, so leave the giant Xenomorph heads at home.

  • If your cosplay plans involve a very long striped scarf or a sonic screwdriver, you’re invited to join in on the Dr. Who Cosplay Meet-Up, on Saturday, March 30 at 4pm by the fountain. Check their Facebook Event for more details.

  • We are jazzed to hear that Nick Kremenek of Dreamforger Studios will be making it to WonderCon after all!

  • It’s only been since February that Helldivers 2 has dominated the gaming world, but it’s clearly on many people’s minds as we are seeing art inspired from it all over the internet. That includes this delightful Helldivers x Stitch mash-up sketch cover, on a cover of the new Lilo & Stitch comic from Red Inked Panda, available for purchase at WonderCon. You can also see them over on Twitter working on some of the sketch covers.

  • CGC has updated their site to include a little bit more about how they will be accepting items for grading at WonderCon, and also dropped some news that in addition to giveaways and prize opportunities, they will have limited edition pins for both Wolverine and Batman. Get all the submission details and the pin news at their dedicated WonderCon info page.

  • Just a slab’s throw away from the CGC booth at #608, you’ll find TNK Comics and Collectibles. They are going to be offering some incredible deals on comics, including some $2 bins fresh for the diving.

  • Special Guest and legendary creator Marv Wolfman (The New Teen Titans, Blade, Deathstroke) won’t be spending all his time in panels at WonderCon. He’s also got a booth in Artist Alley, #D-01.

  • While you’re in the neighborhood, stop over to visit prolific writer Brian Buccellato at #D-03. Hopefully he’ll have some of the DC Justice League x Godzilla x Kong comics. They have been soaring off the shelves at my store!

  • I can’t make this stuff up folks, we’ve got ANOTHER aisle D announcement to make…Sean Forney will be at #D-05 and he’s bringing a new Do You Pooh exclusive cover. This one is a homage of the Transformers cover that Jonboy Meyers did and it’s very tasty.

  • When will the Aisle D nonsense end? Not yet, my friend. Just down the way from Forney will be Nate Lovett at #D-09. Find him by looking for his brand new banner.

  • Don’t leave aisle D just yet! Down at #D-39 you can find California writer Arthur Ebuen. And if it’s Saturday then you’ll get the bonus of editor Justin Giampaoli.

  • I don’t know about you, but I have been watching a lot of Reels on IG about capybaras and I think they might be my new favorite animal. If you agree, check out this keychain from Megan Porch and bask in its serene and proud presence. That capybara looks chill AF. Porch will have these at WonderCon for purchase.
