Under the Tents 2024: Sean Forney, James Silvani, Victron Printing, Sara Kipin, Hero Within

We are just 50 days away from San Diego Comic-Con 2024, and there’s still so much news to come. In today’s edition of Under the Tents, we’ve got everything from where artists can get their prints delivered on-site, some arr-ty pirates, news of a Comics Kickoff event, pieces celebrating the convention itself, and so much more.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Nickelodeon illustrator Sara Kipin may not have invented the sticky note, but she’s clearly perfected it. She’ll have these stunning stickies with her at Booth #2015 on the Exhibit Hall floor.

  • Co-writer/creator of The Writer, Benjamin Berkowitz, was excited to announce the project’s attendance at SDCC this year. Berkowitz also tagged superstar talent Josh Gad in the photo, who is also credited among the comic’s creators. Will Olaf himself make an appearance at the Dark Horse booth? As they said in their tweet, details are still “TBA,” but stranger things have happened at Comic-Con.

  • Las Vegas-based comics retailer Nerds Comictopia is hitching a ride to San Diego Comic-Con this year with their friends at Trend Setters, LTD. Find them both at Booth #4730 on the Exhibit Hall Floor.

  • Gabe Eltaeb, the big man behind Big Man Comics, has an event planned for SDCC this year, which is presumably his annual Comic Kickoff Fundraiser at Basic Pizza. While he hasn’t released specifics just yet, he let an inquisitive Twitter follower know he’ll be dropping the deets in a couple of weeks.

  • Let’s face it, a lot of Comic-Con time is spent in the Hall H Line. The Good-Good Monsters will be back to bring their good line karma their line buddies this year, which will be an awesome way to pass the time you have waiting in Hall H Line. Waiting. Just Waiting.

  • Artist James Pascoe is heading to San Diego Comic-Con with a full deck this year (or at least a few tarot decks, exclusive prints, and more). You can pick up his two exclusive prints — the first of which features Deadpool and Wolverine jamming out, and the second of which features the beloved Hotel Coronado, for $20 each. Each print is limited to $20. You can also pick up his California Tarot Deck either by itself for $50, or combined with the print for $60.

  • Hero Within also showed off sneak peek of a Star Trek: Strange New Worlds piece, which they’ll be beaming in info in for soon.

  • Taco Boy Designs has big plans at San Diego Comic-Con, where he hopes to show off a “massive showcase of originals”. After sampling this Invincible piece, if you’re hungry for more, be sure to stop by Small Press #DD-20.

  • Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me… Get ready to sail the San Diego Comic-Con exhibit floor high seas (hey, they only said don’t run; they never mentioned anything about sailing) to plunder James Silvani’s booth to pick up this exclusive preview ashcan for Pirates: A Graphic History.

  • Printing emergencies are real. Maybe you’re not local but don’t want to fly with your prints, or you don’t want to pay to ship them. That’s where Victron Printing comes in, who are offering free on-site delivery, and even a 15% discount on your order now through June 26. Find more information on their site.
