San Diego Comic-Con is about so much more than just movies and television. The San Diego Public Library and Comic-Con International will once again be presenting their “Comic Conference for Educators and Librarians” (CCEL), a series of panels held at the Shiley Special Events Suite at the San Diego Central Library. Through presentations focused on educators and librarians, Comic-Con hopes to engage the community and promote comics as a medium for learning and as a literary art form.
The CCEL panels span all five days of the convention (July 24-28) and are free to attend and open to the public. Those interested can register now at the SD Public Library website to reserve a seat. Comic-Con badges are not required.

In addition, the San Diego Public Library will be hosting a few Comic-Con themed events throughout the week for children, including:
- Sketch Night: Comic-Con Edition (Tuesday, July 23 4pm-5pm): Join the Sketch Night Team for a special Comic-Con themed program! Teens and tweens ages 10-18 are invited to join this free virtual drawing program. Learn more here.
- Super Hero Workshop with ClicBitz San Diego (Tuesday, July 23 4pm-6pm): Join the Comic-Con Public Library and Clic Bitz as they guide you in making a superhero cape and mask. Learn more here.
- Art to Scale: Comic and Character Buttons (Thursday, July 25 2pm-3pm): Make the most out of your afternoon by coming to the library for a hands-on art workshop. A new medium and new techniques will be used every month. Learn more here.

They will also have a daily Cosplay Repair Station, located on the 4th floor of the Central Library in the Central IDEA Lab. All ages are welcome, and the library will having sewing machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, desktop cutters, soldering irons, general sewing supplies, and different types of adhesives readily available.
It will be open Thursday-Saturday of the con from 10am-4pm, and on Sunday from 1pm-4pm.
