We’ve got less than two weeks to go until San Diego Comic-Con 2024 begins. We’re already exhausted. Too exhausted to write an intro to this edition of Under the Tents? Pretty much. You know the drill by now. We have SDCC news. It’s really good. You’re going to see some fun stuff. I promise. Please read.
Here’s a look at what you might have missed:
- Eisner-Award nominated artist and illustrator Abigail J Harding is heading to the convention with fellow Eisner-Award nominee Richard Starkings. You’ll find them at Booth #2106 with two exclusives: a Parliament of Rooks ashcan remarque comic, as well as an Elephantmen: Yvette remarque.
- Diamond Select Toys aren’t down for the count yet. If you thought they were done with exclusives and Comic-Con plans, think again, because they’re stepping back into the ring with something “extra special” for AEW fans at their Booth #2607 at the con. But we’ll have to stay tuned for further details.
- Every day is Halloween at Rhode Montijo’s whimsical cardboard booth at San Diego Comic-Con, #1329. But you can celebrate all year long with his new 8″x16″ vintage-styled DECORATE-TIN sign, which will be debuting at the con.
- Masquerade! Paper faces on parade! You can be all decked out for the Black Parade with artist Carla Wyzgala’s “Skull Masquerade” lanyards, stickers, and more. March on over to #AA-17 to pick up some goodies.
- Little Friends of Printmaking have several debuts at San Diego Comic-Con, but we think this one is purr-fect. You can pick up their Coffee Cat vinyl toy at Booth #4621, so stop by to get your cat-feinated fix.
- The comic book store that can become its own offsite, Now or Never Comics, is hosting a signing at their shop in the Gaslamp Quarter on F Street for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Jason Aaron on Sunday, July 28 from 12:00pm-2:00pm PT.
Now Or Never is hosting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Jason Aaron for a FREE in store signing on the final day of Comic-Con!

- The folks at Scissor Seven want to spoil their fans this year at SDCC. They’re bringing director He Xiaofeng with them for signings and some special prizes for fans who buy Scissor merch or just bring it with them.
- BioWare was excited to announce they’re bringing all the DragonAge to SDCC 2024 with a panel, some signings, and even an invitation to the coveted Fandom Party. No, they won’t take you with them.
Exciting news #DragonAge fans, we’re going to be at #SDCC later this month! Whether you're a long-time fan or new to the community, we can't wait to see you there. pic.twitter.com/nfPNBGOcns

- Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg… er, San Diego, that is. Disney artist James Silvani is bringing lots of new original pieces to Artist Alley Table #II-06 at SDCC this year.
- Dren Productions revealed their sexy SDCC 2024 exclusive cosplay cover debuting their new comic series, Plan 79 from Outer Space, that’s available for pre-order now. They only made 50 copies, so order now to get it shipped to you after the convention.

- Are you doing your squats? Our favorite critter-maker, the Geeky Hooker, isn’t skipping leg day when she drops her crocheted Chun-Li at SDCC this year. Make sure you’re following her socials to see where you can find her crocheted cuties.
This girl NEVER skips a leg day. Find Chun Li at SDCC and she’s yours to keep! Check out the blog for details! @SD_Comic_Con @OutsideComicCon @Crazy4ComicCon https://t.co/uX1iYo37tm

- If you were planning on sleeping on Bad Idea’s panel for their next limited series, Planet Death, you might want to rethink that. Per The Comics Beat, not only will they have a first look at the new series from John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstadt, but they’re also bringing something special to give away to fans who are in Room 24ABC on Saturday at 2:30pm PT.
- Have you ever wanted to support the RPG community but weren’t sure where to start? TTRP AP Producer Ron Ogden has some suggestions that involve the San Diego Comic-Con RPG Play Theater in the Omni Hotel at the Grand Ballroom ABC on the fourth floor.

- If Leatherface were into basketball, he’d be stopping by Alex Pardee’s Booth #5503 at Comic-Con for Pardee’s SDCC-exclusive trading cards he’ll have with him. Would this be considered a technical or personal foul?

- They’re bigger, bulkier, and arguably more likely to explode than later models, according to Mr. Boimler, but you just can’t beat the sleek, retro design of the classic Star Trek: The Original Series tricorder. Hero Within will be holding live demos of a fully functional version of the device at their Energize Lounge during Comic-Con this year.
💥Energize Lounge Exclusive!
— Hero Within @ SDCC 1943 (@HeroWithinInc) July 12, 2024
For the first time #StarTrek fans can experience @thewandcompany fully functioning TRICORDER! It will be on display with live demos daily. If you are at Comic-Con you have to see it in person to believe it! #SDCC https://t.co/0mMVnwUtbq pic.twitter.com/cCytkBAJw2
- Do you prefer Franken or Boo Berry? Maybe you’re a Count Chocula fan. If your parents were cool enough (mine weren’t), you got to enjoy some Monsters Cereal on a Saturday morning with your cartoons. Artist Matt Hebb pays homage to our Saturday morning sugar fix with his Monsters Cereal sticker packs he’ll have with him in Small Press at Table #F-05 during Comic-Con this year.
- Of course, one of those Saturday morning cartoons was the classic 90s X-Men, which is Matt Hebb’s next SDCC exclusive sticker pack he’ll have with him at Small Press Table #F-05 during the con. He didn’t make many of them, so grab one fast.
- Don’t throw away your shot to pick up Matt Hebb’s next homage to one of the most underrated presidents in U.S. history: William Henry Harrison. He only had 32 days in the White House, but he can hang on your wall forever in Hebb’s first of five Simpsons Playbills: Harrison! You don’t have to be in the room where it happened, but you do have to make it to Small Press Table #F-05 if you want one.
- If you can’t wait until November for Butcher Queen Vol.2: Planet of the Dead to come out, neither can Red 5 Comics, which is why they’ll have writer Jim Ousley at Booth #1808 signing early copies for SDCC attendees.
Hey guys – excited to announce I’ll be signing copies of the upcoming deluxe edition of BUTCHER QUEEN VOL. 2: PLANET OF THE DEAD trade paperback at SDCC this month!
— Jim Ousley SDCC Booth 1808 (@JimOusley) July 13, 2024
It doesn’t come out in stores until November, but we’ll have it for you EARLY at SDCC. Come see us at booth 1808… pic.twitter.com/kL5FYkdprN
