San Diego Comic-Con is about to get some major leveling.
Actress and writer Felicia Day confirmed that The Guild will be heading back to the con this summer with a panel for the upcoming The Guild: Reunion Movie, though details are still to be announced.
For those unfamiliar, The Guild was one of the defining geek-culture series of the late 2000s. Created by and starring Day, the comedy web series centered on a group of players in a fantasy MMORPG whose online adventures began spilling into their offline lives. It embraced gaming, cosplay, and fandom in ways that many had never experienced being seen before — especially as it treated those fan cultures not as punchlines, but as communities worth celebrating.
This is surely tied to the upcoming Kickstarter campaign for the film, which aims to continue the story of Codex and the rest of the Guild while celebrating the series’ enduring fan community. The reunion movie is also being developed as part of The Guild‘s 20th anniversary celebration, marking two decades since the web series first helped put gaming and online fandom culture in the spotlight.
With no official launch date yet for the Kickstarter, timing it around San Diego Comic-Con would make a lot of sense.
