Start planning your traffic routes now. Harbor Drive in front of the San Diego Convention Center will once again be closed to the general public and traffic during peak Comic-Con hours.
This has been the case every year of the convention since 2018, and it helps to give San Diego Comic-Con more of its enclosed, “Comic-Con campus” feeling — while also keeping attendees safer.
Beginning on Preview Night (Wednesday, July 22), here are the dates and times that all traffic (which typically includes bikes, scooters, and skateboards as well as cars) will be closed, between First Avenue and Park Boulevard:
- Wednesday, July 22: 2pm-10pm
- Thursday, July 23: 7am-10pm
- Friday, July 25: 7am-10pm
- Saturday, July 26: 7am-10pm
- Sunday, July 27: 7am-8pm
Harbor Drive will reopen to traffic after the hours listed above, or earlier if deemed appropriate by public safety officials.
Additionally, a multi-year construction project south of the Convention Center could cause delays near the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. The status of this project and any impacts it may cause are being monitored and updated regularly on the Convention Center website.
While not officially announced yet, the three main exceptions to this rule are always emergency vehicles, ADA drop-off and pick-up, and those who purchased parking for the Convention Center. In the past, those individuals would need to show their permit from the First Avenue side when entering after 7AM.
Only badged members (attendees of San Diego Comic-Con) may access the front drive, stairs, and surrounding sidewalks of the San Diego Convention Center.Â

Pubic access to the waterfront, the fishing pier, water ferry, and all other amenities will remain open and can be accessed via:Â
- Marina Walk between the Grand Hyatt and Marriott Marquis hotels
- Canyon Path between the Marriott and the San Diego Convention Center
- The Pedestrian Bridge along Park Boulevard
- The sidewalk along the south side of Convention Way next to the Hilton Bayfront hotel
