We are officially justĀ one month away from San Diego Comic-Con, and we couldn’t be more excited. The news is starting to come faster and faster, and this week is already looking like it’s going to be another big one. But first, let’s take a moment to slow down, and look at some of the amazing comics, stickers, glass pieces, and panels you’ll find throughout the con.
Here’s a look at what you might have missed:
- If you love pugs, dogs in general, and great cartoons ā then Dave Kellett is likely already on your must-stop-by list for San Diego Comic-Con. But just in case he’s not, make sure you jot down Booth #1228. And if you’re a ComicLab listener, be sure to ask about your free pin at the booth.

- Death metal and graphic novels collide in Tony Guaraldi-Brown’s New Gods, New Masters: The Art of the Graphic Novel, a companion volume to the graphic novel created alongside progressive death metal band Revocation’s concept album of the same name. The book pulls back the curtain on the creation of the dystopian sci-fi story, showcasing full-color scans of the original artwork, sketches, concept pieces, preliminary drawings, and behind-the-scenes explorations that brought the project to life. Fans can find Guaraldi-Brown in Small Press at #P-14, where he’ll be promoting the 9″x12″ softcover art book, which is available for pre-order for $40 as part of its Kickstarter campaign.

- Artist Whilce Portacio and Ryan Benjamin will be sharing space at Booth #4207, where they’ll have original artwork, live sketching, and signings all weekend long. And if you haven’t taken a peek at their commissions, you can check those (and many others!) out in our handy Pre-Con Commission List.
- Do you love seeing sentences of words youĀ never thought would be combined? Well, I’ve got one for you: Creator Steve Stern’sĀ Frickin’ Butt-Kickin’ Zombie Ants comic will be invading San Diego Comic-Con at the 1First Comics booth.
- Artist Jeff Pina is always one of the busiest folks on the show floor, and today, he’s got three new stickers to show you. There’s the Excelsior fromĀ Star Trek, some negative muppets, and your favorite Dungeon crawlers. Be sure to stop by #Q-06 in Small Press to pick these up and peruse his many, many pieces of original artwork.

- Do you love classic horror and things that go bump in the night? Then you’re going to want to come celebrate with the “Classic Horror Panel: Dracula & Frankenstein Turn 95!“, in which Julian David Stone (author,Ā It’s Alive!) and Antonia Carlotta (host,Ā Universally Me) break down the year that horror was born.

- And speaking of panels, you can also tune into “The Dad Batch Podcast: Walking Workbench at San Diego Comic-Con” on Saturday, July 25 from 7pm-8pm in the Marriott Marquis. Bring your cosplay, props, and other projects and talk shop!
- What would a world without crocheted critters in “Under the Tents” look like? We hope we never have to find out. Painted World Fiber Arts is here to save the day with this tiny crocheted Captain America and Remy, who you can pick up during the event. Be sure to follow on social for clues to his location.
- Artist Andy Kubert has a busy SDCC ahead of him. He’ll be setting up shop at the Skybound booth (located inside Image Comics booth), with his new comicĀ Terminal (with Robert Kirman, Joe Casey, and Dave McCaig). Kubert will have posters, art, and more available.
- C.W. Thayer and Ron Milts’Ā Grace follows a woman who, after her murder, is given the opportunity to return to her life, but only if she agrees to deliver the souls of the unredeemable to their reckoning. Attendees can pick up issue #4 at San Diego Comic-Con.

- Neacol Miller, glass artist extraordinary has been hard at work making some sweet little cuties, hand sculpted glass animals chillin’ on some popsicles. You can find all these, plus more at her booth, #E-05

- Comics creator Ian Bertram is following up his Image series Precious Metal and Little Bird with The Karmen Blade,Ā which will have it’s first issue dropping in September. In the meantime, Bertram will be at San Diego Comic-Con with Felix Comic Art, who are making promises that they better keep on Twitter. (Side note: one of our Ublog team reached out asking about Bertram doing commissions and was told that he’s not offering them right now. Womp, womp.)

- Tucked into the announcement for the Female Comic CEOs Panel is a little morsel of signing news. Martheus Wade (Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa, Shinobi Princess) will be signing at the National Cartoonist Society booth, days and time TBA.

- Writer Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz (Heavy, Rise) is heading back to San Diego Comic-Con, where he’ll be signing all five days at the Pocket Watch Press Booth #P-11 in Small Press. Fans can browse a library of comics and variant covers, with purchases of $60 or more earning a free art print, while those spending $80 or more can also take home a complimentary tote bag.
