Under the Tents 2026: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, ENHYPHEN, Val Hochberg, Martin Hsu, Out of Print

If you’re reading this then you are not yet full from all the news that’s come out. Just today, we have had news about Grimm coming back for a reunion panel, and Fandom somehow convinced Billie Joe Armstrong to perform at their party, plus Funko started their reveals.

Are you not well fed?

Ya’ll are like this:

When you should be like this:

Fun fact about this particular Under the Tents here; like many aspects of the San Diego Comic-Con Unofficial Blog, it’s a total team effort. The first section of nonsense is written by me (Erin) and then I was relieved of duty by Keisha, who took over the rest of it. Links were found by our crackpot team of sleuths, led this time of year by Kara and supplemented by everyone else. Commissions are always updated by Andy. Trolleys tracked down by Kim, Evic, and Shawn and Carmelle of Parks & Cons. [Editor’s Note: And I, Kerry, do nothing around here but sit and eat bon-bons, obviously!] If you’re getting a real NPR vibe from this paragraph, don’t worry, I’m not going to ask for your pledge. But we do have a Patreon.

Now how about some tasty news?:

  • Bleep Bloop Whirp Plooor Plooor! That’s how robots say “Congratulations on your very first visit to San Diego Comic-Con! Please bring lots of cool stuff with you!” which is my message to Handmade By Robots, when they announced that they will be exhibiting for the first time, and in the Lucas Pavilion, even!

  • A new booth location calls for a new banner! Such is the case for Val Hochberg (and her loyal assistant Moxi Foxi!) who unveiled her backdrop on Instagram. Use it to help find her at Booth #1528.

  • I got a lot of jubilation when I saw this Jubilee sticker from artist Alfredo Cardona. According to the post on Instagram, it will be available at the Comic Sketch Art booth. Also, not mentioned in the post, but I see that Cardona is still available to take on some SDCC commissions… you know… if you like what you see…

  • I was starting to get a little worried about Robotech. Usually, they are one of the very first to confirm their San Diego Comic-Con appearance, so I was very relieved to see them post yesterday on Facebook that yes, indeed, they will be there, with all the newest news and reveals for the Robotech-Heads.

  • This particular panel title sure brought a smile to my face (if you need a reminder, check this out). The magical mending of comics and games will be discussed on Saturday, July 25 over at the Mariott Marquis Grand 10/11 at 12pm with a whole host of panelists who absolutely know what they are talking about, unlike me, who would probably just talk about chocolate.

  • Our friend Martin Hsu is perhaps rethinking a mashup between Project Hail Mary and ET, head over to his socials to let him know what you’re thinking about the sticker he teased. I’m sure whatever the finished product looks like, it will be amazing.

  • Amaze amaze amaze! Martin also showed off a closer look at one of his other Project Hail Mary pieces, in which Rocky and Grace share a hug through Rocky’s pressure sphere. How do you know when it’s over? When we get the full reveal, I guess!

  • Saved and Spoiled, a comic book featuring a rescue dog Wilson and a pedigree cat Dewey, revealed that an official Comic-Con exclusive book will be available. This full-color collection features more than 170 comics starring the lovable animals, and all their household chaos! It will be available in limited quantities in the Small Press #0-13.

  • If you grew up way back in the late 1900s, specifically the 1990s, then you surely are very familiar with The Busy World of Richard Scarry, and the first character that you probably think of is the cute little lowly worm zooming around in its apple car. If you’re already feeling nostalgic just reading that, then you’ll love this exclusive enamel pin from Out of Print featuring the aforementioned lowly worm in its apple. You can pick it up for $15 at Booth #1623.

  • The odds of being attacked by a Killer Tomato may seem farfetched… but it’s never completely off the table. Especially in July during Comic-Con. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, the 1978 cult classic, teased that a lot has been growing underground and it was time to surface to share some of it. Something big will be coming to San Diego Comic-Con, and though we’re not entirely sure what yet, we’re excited to learn more about this homegrown film.

  • As a huge Supernatural fan, I love seeing that we’re getting some Supernatural representation at the con this year. The Hillywood Show announced that, along with Hilly Hindi, Matt Cohen and Richard Speight will also be attending. More details still TBA, but we know they’ll be there Friday, July 24 – Saturday, July 25.

  • Steven Weintraub from Collider teased another panel, and it sure sounds like it’s going to be a big one, involving world premiere footage and a director we “LOVE”. Tell us more, Steven.

  • New York Times Best Selling writer and artist Tony Daniel shared that he will be in attendance Wednesday through Friday of the con, hosted by P Dot’s Comics Booth #1017. Stop by for sketches, prints, and autographs.

  • We can never get enough of Spider-Man, especially in July. The Comic Mint shared an exclusive Amazing Spider-Man 25 Skan Symbie Homage Variant. Limited online presale begins today on their website, and it’s limited to only 1,000 copies, and pricing starting at $24.99 for non-graded. You can find all the information on their website.

  • Just revealed during Yo Joe June, a Tomb Raider x GI Joe Lara Croft figure was announced, including all the accessories you could want for her latest expedition and an extra swappable head. The full reveal and pre-order launch will happen during the convention.

  • The Live Interactive Musical Adventure, Kids Imagine Nation, announced that they will be joining Nickelodeon this year at the convention, and they’re bringing DJ Q with them. Sounds like a very fun, and very silly, time will be had by all.

  • Icon Heroes, in conjunction with Jiu Jitsu Combat Creatures, teased a sword that one can assume will be available at their Booth #4344. More details will be released on June 29th, so keep an eye out for the full reveal.

  • Does anyone remember the tv show Sliders? It was about a group of people who would travel between parallel universes or “sliders” that used a wormhole device trying to find their way back to Earth. Well, if you do remember it and are a big fan, then you’re amongst good company, including artist Jeff Pina who shared a sticker he made for the show. You can pick one up at Small Press #Q-06.

  • In a post found on Reddit, comics publisher Ghost Machine confirmed that they will be back at the convention this year, with merch and daily signings.

  • Greenlight Collectibles offered a sneak peak into their exclusive Garbage Pail Kids release, featuring the new tooling 2015 Chevrolet Express Van. This graffiti-inspired GPK collectible includes a special New Wave Dave card and peel-able sticker, and will be limited to just 1,776 pieces.

  • And finally, more Spider-Man! But this time with The Punisher. Collector Cave announced probably their most important cover coming with them to the show. Punisher vs Amazing Spider-Man by the rising star Jonathan Uribe will be Jon’s debut Marvel cover, so be sure to show it some love. This two-pack set features a battle between two of the most iconic characters in all of comics and is colored by Juan Fernandez. It’s limited to only 3,000 trade dress copies, and 1,000 Virgin variants. Copies will be available at the table all weekend long during the convention.
