Authentic autobiographical elements are blended with moody small-town drama in Studio 12-7’s Westside: Volume 1, making it’s debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, in Artist’s Alley, booth # EE-11.
With Merced, California under siege, deputy sheriffs and unlikely partners, Hope and David are polar opposites, forced to work together investigating a spate of violent crimes in California’s Central Valley.
Drawing from deeply personal, autobiographical roots, writer Justin Giampaoli (Starship Down, Rome West) has crafted a layered and slow burning crime drama, with illustrator Dave Law (Dungeon Crawler Carl, Wolf Punks) providing dramatic and bold black-and-white art, setting a distinct tone for the neo-noir tale. Artist Arthur N. Ebuen provides a variant cover for the collection.Â
