If there’s one thing San Diego Comic-Con attendees love, it’s planning ahead. Many of you reading this article probably already have a color-coded spreadsheet, a hotel strategy, and a countdown timer running somewhere. So if you’re the type who likes to know exactly when you’ll be heading back to San Diego years in advance, you may be in luck.
Thanks to listings on hotel provider onPeak’s website, we may now have tentative San Diego Comic-Con dates all the way through 2030. While Comic-Con International has not officially announced these dates, onPeak has long handled the convention’s hotel reservations, making it a fairly reliable source.
The listed dates are:
- July 22-25, 2027 (Preview Night: July 21)
- August 3-6, 2028 (Preview Night: August 2)
- July 19-22, 2029 (Preview Night: July 18)
- July 18-21, 2030 (Preview Night: July 17)
As always, the dates listed are for the four official convention days and do not include Preview Night, which takes place the Wednesday before.
The biggest surprise here is 2028, with Comic-Con shifting into early August. That is surely due to the 2028 Summer Olympic games, which are scheduled to run from July 14-30 in Los Angeles (with San Diego hosting some of the LA28 Olympic Football Tournament matches). Moving San Diego Comic-Con back by a few days would avoid overlapping with one of the largest events in the world, along with the increased travel demand, hotel occupancy, and logistical challenges that come with it.
One other thing to note: Officially, Comic-Con International has also not publicly announced an extension on their contract to remain in San Diego beyond 2027, so some of this may be tentative.
