Audible is turning the volume all the way up at San Diego Comic-Con this year with a packed lineup of panels, an immersive offsite experience, and even a food truck inspired by one of the biggest audiobook hits.
This year, they’re focusing their efforts on two of their biggest properties — Dungeon Crawler Carl, the global LitRPG sensation from creator Matt Dinniman, and Heads Will Roll with Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne.
On the panel side, fans will find two exciting offerings from Audible, including:
- “Goddamnit, Donut: A Totally Professional Panel with Matt Dinniman & Jeff Hays” (Time/Date TBA) — Bringing together bestselling author Matt Dinniman and narrator Jeff Hays to discuss the explosive success of the LitRPG phenomenon, the creative partnership behind the audiobooks, and the process of bringing Carl and Princess Donut to life. It will be moderated by Maude Garrett.
- “Heads Will Roll: Kate McKinnon & Emily Lynne on Crafting Audible’s Hit Medieval Comedy Series” (Time/Date TBA) — Real-life sisters Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne will pull back the curtain on their hit Audible Original, discussing everything from building its delightfully absurd fantasy world to recording with an all-star cast that includes Carrie Coon, Sam Richardson, Megan Mullally, Richard Kind, and Patti LuPone.
The company is launching the “Level Up Lounge”, an interactive offsite at Swing Social (527 Fifth Ave.) inspired by Dungeon Crawler Carl and Bobiverse. Fans can complete themed activities to earn XP, which can be redeemed for exclusive loot and prizes. The experience includes a Bobiverse-inspired “BobNet” zone, a Dungeon Crawler Carl survival station where fans can record their own “Crawler Incident Report,” cosplay touch-up stations, phone charging, listening lounges, photo ops, and more.
The activation will be open to the public on Saturday, July 25 from 11am-7pm.
There’s plenty more Dungeon Crawler Carl to explore at the convention though, as Audible is also sending a fully-wrapped Princess Donut Food Truck to the streets of San Diego on Friday, July 24 from 12pm-6pm at 502 7th Ave.
Fans can grab free donut holes inspired by the series, including “Goddamnit, Donut!” (a cinnamon-flavored donut) “Samantha’s Head” (powdered sugar) and “The Desperado Glaze” (vanilla glaze), along with exclusive merchandise and Audible-branded giveaways.
Audible also promises additional Dungeon Crawler Carl-themed surprises throughout Comic-Con weekend, so crawlers may want to keep their eyes peeled.
