Under the Tents 2026: Peach Momoko, Rhode Montijo, James Silvani, Elhoffer Design, My Little Pony, Yoichi Nishikawa

This is my lucky #13 “Under the Tents” post, because it’s the 13th I’ve written this year. It is also my lucky post because I only have one more “Under the Tents” to write after this, because SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON IS A WEEK FROM TODAY. AHHHHHH.

I’m not going to bore you with a bunch of talk up here, in large part because I just don’t have time, so let’s get right to business.

P.S. You can absolutely tell the half of this I wrote at 6:30am delirious, and the half I wrote at 10pm at night, strictly down to business.

  • Our friend Dan Veesenmeyer keeps hinting this may be his final year vending at San Diego Comic-Con (but I have heard that before from you, Dan, and we keep pulling you back in!). You’ll catch him over at #EE-24 in Artist Alley with “less than a dozen” of several of his remaining prints, including the last of his X-Men team holofoils. Lean and mean, Dan is a fighting machine!

  • Master of all things spookytown, Rhode Montijo will be bringing his fantastical world of cardboard back to Booth #1329, where you’ll find several exclusives and debuts. He’s been showing off sneak peeks on Instagram, including this tiny trinket dish.

  • RHODE! I’m trying to finish writing this “Under the Tents” section at some point today, but you keep adding more rad items! I’m loving it, but I’m going to need you to pause for just one minute… If you see me crying, it’s because I’ve gotten no sleep for two weeks, but if you’re crying because you miss Halloween, you can pick up this super cute bumper sticker from Rhode.

  • OH BUT WE’RE NOT DONE?! Rhode is also bringing “The Halloween Kid” patch. I am hitting publish on this sucker before Rhode announces anything else super cool.

  • Like many of you, I was very sad to hear about Sam Neill’s passing this week. Watching Jurassic Park as a kid was such a formative experience, and it’s still one of my all-time favorite movies. Brittnee Braun’s Dino Skirt isn’t exactly a Jurassic Park homage, but in my heart, it is. You can get your little t-rex hands on it over at #1320.

  • Brittnee is also bringing a Mermaid skirt, but I don’t have some downer story for you about this one. You will, however, feel like Darryl Hannah while wearing this. Or at least, I think you will.

  • Mis Nopales-José Pulido are celebrating girl power, with a Mexican twist. These fun sticker packs will be available for $8 each at #H-03 in Small Press, or you can get all three for $20.

  • It’s never an “Under the Tents” without some crochet, and today’s offering comes from Franny G, aka FRANCESCUP CREATIONS. She’s bringing a Thiccc (her words, not mine, but she ain’t wrong) SPAM in a Can, so give her a follow over on social to try to bring him home.

  • An elephant never forgets. And Le Petit Elefant isn’t forgetting to bring a few of her new hats to San Diego Comic-Con #L-8 in Small Press.
  • Shiny! The California Browncoats are flying in with a quick update, to let you know that their Browncoat Boardgame Night is moving to Thursday, July 23. Catch them from 7pm-10pm in the Marriott Pacific Ballroom 22 for family-friendly Firefly games and more.

  • Watching an artist work is always a treat, but Agnes Garbowska is taking it one step further. The artist behind work for My Little Pony, Teen Titans Go!, Care Bears, and more will be creating live watercolors while fans wait, with each collector also receiving a timelapse video of their artwork coming to life. Find her at Artist Alley Table DD-01, where she’ll also have plenty of original art available, along with Comic-Con blind bags, signed comics, and more.
  • BAD IDEA is asking the important question: What if the goat being sacrificed to summon a demon decided it had had enough? That’s the premise of It Demands Sacrifice, a new limited series from Love, Death & Robots writer Philip Gelatt, Brightburn director David Yarovesky, artist Adam Pollina, and colorist Dean White. Think Bambi meets The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The series doesn’t arrive in comic shops until October, but SDCC attendees can get it early at the BAD IDEA’s panel on Friday, July 24 at 5pm in Room 32AB, where you’ll receive a SDCC exclusive edition.

  • SOMETIMES, SOME CRIMES GO SLIPPIN’ THROUGH THE CRACKS! BUT THESE TWO GUM SHOES ARE PICKING UP THE SLACK! I’ve been awake since 4am for like the tenth day in a row, and I feel a lot like I did as a kid hyped up on a sugar high, watching Rescue Rangers. Follow the clues to James Silvani’s booth #II-06 where he’ll have plenty of original art for $50 each, celebrating at least some of my favorite childhood series.

  • Speaking of James… he will also have the complete run of his Darkwing Duck comics available at his booth, and you can even pre-order them online now by emailing him at [email protected] for $500 each.

  • Artist Lea Seidman Hernandez is bringing over 100 art cards to #BB-09, including these little bunnies. I’m exhausted even just reading that, but major props.

  • Trinity Comics has a big announcement for you, with the reveal of their Spider-Man Superman #1 Trinity Virgin exclusive by Peach Momoko. It’s limited to 699 pieces at Booth #5553, with each one coming with a sequentially numbered COA.

  • Geeky apparel maker Elhoffer Design is giving our favorite K-pop hunters of demons a zip-up treatment, with this golden piece heading to San Diego Comic-Con. (But let’s normalize putting prices on things, especially this late in the game!)
  • Coffin Comics is opening the coffin lid on its full lineup of San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, with a killer collection of covers ready to tempt collectors. You can view their full catalog below.

  • Friendship is magic… but if that’s not enough, apparently it also comes with pearlescent finishes and ultra-rare trading cards! Hasbro is debuting the My Little Pony Kayou Friendship in the Cards collector set at SDCC, featuring Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie with sparkling eye deco, and gold accents. Each figure also comes with an ultra-rare Kayou trading card featuring exclusive sketchbook-style artwork by My Little Pony artist Amy Mebberson, plus a protective display case that attaches directly to the figure. A limited quantity will be available first at Hasbro’s Booth #3213 before pre-orders open on Amazon on Monday, July 27.

  • Loth-cats are adorable. Loth-ball kittens? Somehow even cuter. Tricia Buchanan-Benson, whose credits include work with Lucasfilm as well as animation on The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Futurama, is bringing 10 SDCC exclusive original paintings of the fluffy felines to Booth #5628. Each 4″x4″ original is painted on plaster-covered wood panels and will be available for $175.

  • Hyde Hermit Studios is all about that beach life… and you can bring the beach life home with you with their Tiki Mutt Mai Tai and Zombie glasses ($25 each), a Tiki Mutt button-up shirt ($65), and matching coasters ($3 each). Pick them up at Booth #609, but even better, every purchase comes with a free coaster, so you’ll have somewhere to set that imaginary Mai Tai.
  • Add a little mystery to your life with Felix Comic Art’s blind bags. Each bag includes two exclusive variant covers by Felix Comic Art artists, featuring characters from publishers like Marvel, DC, Image, and IDW. Quantities will be allotted daily from Wednesday through Saturday, so if you want to roll the dice, your best bet is to head to the booth early before they’re gone.

  • San Diego Comic-Con Special Guest Yoichi Nishikawa — the acclaimed Studio Ghibli background artist who is known as the “painter of clouds” — is bringing a new original painting to Booth #2015. Inspired by the spectacular landscapes of Namaqualand in Namibia and South Africa, this new original painting will be available at the Gallery Nucleus booth during the con.

  • The HoYoverse series Honkai: Star Rail will be taking over Booth #129 and transforming it into the “Astral Market“, where fans can pick up new merch.
  • Artist Siplick is bringing a trio of Eternal Sugar Cookie prints to San Diego Comic-Con in collaboration with Nichromatic and voice actor Gabi Manoukian. The set features three exclusive prints of the character, with Nichromatic providing the thumbnails, inks, and base colors, while Siplick handled the shading and final rendering. Fans can pick up signed copies during the convention, including two 11″x17″ prints and one 8″x10″ print.
  • Things aren’t going so well for this World War Robot grunt. Underverse is bringing an SDCC exclusive Severed Grunt Head to Booth #2742, sculpted with battle-worn detail and left unpainted for collectors who want to customize it themselves. Limited to just 200 pieces worldwide, the $20 collectible goes on sale during Preview Night, with a limit of two per person.

  • The cult classic video game POSTAL is making the jump to comics, and San Diego Comic-Con attendees will get the very first look. Roditeli Productions is debuting an SDCC exclusive ashcan at Booth #2202, featuring a lettered preview of the upcoming series, behind-the-scenes concept art and development materials from artist Alex Riegel, plus a gallery of guest artwork. Cover A has now been revealed.

  • There is nothing you could want to say that wouldn’t be improved upon with a Porg. Pick up these adorable greeting cards from Nan Hockin in Small Press #F-11 for between $5-$10.

  • RockLove is saying goodbye to the Star Wars Pavilion after six years at San Diego Comic-Con. To mark its final appearance at Booth #2913B, the jewelry maker is offering 40% off its entire Star Wars collection beginning Preview Night, both at the booth and online. They’re also opening the archives and bringing back retired pieces, giving fans one last chance to discover some long-lost treasures from a galaxy far, far away.

  • There’s more restocks where that came from! If you’ve been hoping to pick up one of Spooksieboo’s licensed LAIKA designs, you’re in luck. Kimmy Perez is restocking some fan favorite pieces for San Diego Comic-Con, so if Coraline, Kubo, ParaNorman, or the rest of the LAIKA crew are your thing, it may be worth making a stop at Booth #2748 before they disappear again.

  • If you missed the Nick Cassavetes film God Is a Bullet on the big screen, now you can experience the story in comics. Patriot Comic Books is premiering the complete graphic novel adaptation at SDCC, about a former detective infiltrating a satanic cult to rescue his kidnapped daughter, to Booth #4014.

  • Am I adding this next piece of news solely for Sarah Lacey on our team, my longterm Comic-Con roomie and our resident graphic artist (and also, you know, my bff)? Yes. Is it also a good deal? Also yes! But Tahiti Felix’s Master Tattoo in the Gaslamp (924 5th Ave) is offering $100 off small tattoos, $150 off medium tattoos, and up to 50% off larger tattoos, during the con. “Get more tattoos!!!” – Sarah, probably.

  • Free stuff? Random prizes? A kung fu bean? Gecko Adams is speaking my language. The first 100 fans to find him at San Diego Comic-Con will score a free Kung Fu Legume temporary tattoo, and he’ll also be handing out Hero Hiro T-shirts for reasons known only to him. While you’re there, you can check out Hero Hiro or pick up a custom sketch cover for $60.

  • Bill Diamond will be offering commissions at Booth #1907, so stop by to get him to draw a Muppet character for you. Waka waka!

  • Colleen Doran is making one brief but memorable stop at SDCC. The acclaimed artist and 2026 Eisner Hall of Fame nominee will be signing at the National Cartoonists Society Booth #1307 on Thursday from 9:30am–1pm, where she’ll have a limited selection of prints, original art, and a few books available.

  • If Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin – Training Day was one of your recent favorites, artists Isaac & Esau Escorza are bringing something special to SDCC. Original pages from the series will be available at Booth #5019, alongside the booth’s exclusive limited-edition blank cover.
