Welcome to the GeekShot Photo Exclusive Series. This will be a weekly post featuring cool, interesting, or just plain awesome moments we have captured during San Diego Comic-Con. Each week we’ll post a photo by Beth or James of GeekShot Photography. We may include a short story about the photo, but sometimes we’ll just let the photo speak for itself.
About This Photo
Karen Gillan at the 2011 live Nerdist podcast recording during San Diego Comic-Con.
I was trying to figure out what to post this week and it came to me while driving in LA traffic. There are Selfie billboards and posters everywhere, so I went deep into the archives to find a photo of Karen that I hadn’t posted yet. This was the Nerdist podcast where, after the recording, Matt Smith and Karen handed out burritos to the attendees. It was a fun night and set the tone for what to expect from future live podcast that the Nerdist crew now does every year at Comic-Con.
As for the photo, there’s a bit of a dichotomy going on with respect to Karen. If you’ve seen her at a panel she’s typically smiling, laughing, making faces, and generally reacting to most everything going on around her. I find, however, that catching her in the moments where she’s just there, for lack of a better word, are my best photos of her.
