Captain Action — the beloved collectible toy line that’s been around since the 1960’s — will be launching a second annual Captain Action Custom Figure Contest, with the winner to be announced at Comic-Con.
Just like last year, fans will be able to show off their creative side in the contest. This year’s theme will be “Bring On the Bad Guys”, and participants will be asked to customize their 1/6th scale Captain Action figures as villainous characters.
“As the original superhero action figure, and the ‘ultimate cosplayer’, we felt that there was no one more appropriate than Captain Action to host this contest and provide an opportunity for creative fans to display their talent. We’re all about the fun of collecting but also of customizing,” said Captain Action’s Ed Catto, a self-described “Retropreneur”.
The contest will be judged by an all-star panel, made up of comics creator Marv Wolfman, The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide‘s J.C. Vaughn, Daniel Pickett of Action Figure Insider, Michael Polis of Atomic Toybox Entertainment, and Michael Crawford of Captain Toy. Evaluations will be judged upon creativity, craftsmanship, originality and professionalism.
More information — including how to enter, and the exact specifics of when judging will happen — will be announced soon, so stay tuned for updates.
