Under the Tents: IMDb Yacht, Cinema Makeup School, PSA Card Grading, Rob Kaz, Terry Dodson

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or a Faraday cage), you know that a lot of SDCC news dropped today (exclusives!) Well, we found a few more, some artists who are opening commissions, makeup, and yes, crochet.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • The IMDb Yacht returns to San Diego Comic-Con, with host Kevin Smith as host and captain for the second year. They’ll be taping interviews there all week – so even though it’s not open to the public, swing by – you never know who you might see around the marina.

  • Cinema Makeup School, one of the most respected makeup schools in Hollywood, announced they would be back at SDCC this year with all kinds of special events at Booth #4523. They’ll have special guests as well as their three blockbuster makeups, showcasing the best of the best from their class:
    • The Joker from Batman: Arkham Asylum video game by Gabi Gonzalez
    • Omnigul from Destiny video game by Joey Pinto
    • Preya by Madison Burger (Rick Baker Scholarship award-winning design)

  • PSA Card Grading + Authentication is going full Pokémon for the upcoming Comic-Con International: San Diego, and giving away Pokémon cards, Pokémon editions of their monthly magazine (SMR), and one lucky winner will even win a custom Charizard painting and First Edition Charizard card, graded PSA 9. In order to enter the sweepstakes, show attendees can visit the PSA booth (Booth #5617) and be entered by a PSA Customer Service representative. Those unable to attend the show can enter online at www.PSAcard.com/comiccon.
  • Steven E. Gordon is one of many artists getting ready for Comic-Con and is currently taking SDCC commissions. If you’re interested, you can message his Facebook page to let him know. He’s even willing to mail it to you if you can’t pick it up in person. If you can, your commission will be at Table #FF-02 in Artists Alley waiting for you.

  • Blue Rider Press announced author Daniel Price will be at the Penguin Random House Booth conducting signed giveaways on Saturday, July 22. Penguin Random House’s booths are located at #1514, #1515, and #4020.

  • Artist Kim Jung Gi shared his U.S. schedule, which includes SDCC. You can find him in the Small Press Area at Table #N-05.

  • Thanks to George Lucas’s special edition of Star Wars, we’ve been debating who shot first for 20 years now. Justin Harder settles that debate once and for all with his latest SDCC exclusive. Find this and more at CLAUS Studios’ Small Press Table #O-08. WHAM!

  • Artist Terry Dodson announced he will open his SDCC sketch commission list on Thursday, July 6 at 6PM PT. If you’d like a sketch from this insanely talented artist, send an email titled SDCC SKETCH through his contact link at  www.terrydodsonart.com or to terry@terrydodsonart.com. Go to his blog page, The Bombshelter, for details on pricing and what specific info he needs to complete your commission.
  • If you’ve been to any Disney park, opened a Disney book, or even come across anything Disney, it’s highly likely you’ve seen Rob Kaz’s work. He’ll be at Acme Archives Booth #5629 on Friday, July 21 from 12PM-1:50PM PT painting and signing his Star Wars artwork. Visit his Facebook Events page and let him know you’ll be visiting him.
