Under the Tents: The LEGO Movie 2, Mondo, Chris Uminga, Funimation, Star vs The Forces of Evil

Maybe you’re already on vacation. Maybe you’re sitting at work, counting down the hours. But either way, now is a good time to catch the latest San Diego Comic-Con 2018 news, with hints of a The LEGO Movie 2 appearance, some hints from Mondo and Funimation, and more.

Here’s a look at the news you might have missed:

  • Jennifer Nolan posted a pic of more crocheted critters to be dropped at Comic-Con. The latest are rainbow penguins!

  • DC comic book artist Norm Rapmund responded to a fan question on Twitter that he will have a commission list at SDCC. If you’re a fan, find him and get on that list quick.

  • Author and artist Enrico Marini posted on Instagram his SDCC 2018 schedule and he is going to be very busy with panels and signings at multiple locations. Check out his post for details of where to find him at the convention.

  • Famous Monsters posted on Twitter that they will have special effects makeup artist Walter Welsh from Syfy’s Face Off at SDCC doing live makeup demonstrations.

  • BeeFy and Co are bringing another adorable exclusive to SDCC booth #5051. This one has nine poseable tails and will be limited to a run of only 100. Snatch one up at the convention as quick as you can.

  • Ken Penders posted on Twitter that he as the cover artist and writer Elliot S! Maggin will be bringing the Superman Lost Son of Krypton novel to San Diego Comic-Con. It will be the first time it has been in print since 1978. Copies are available for pre-order for $25 and will come signed by both artists.

  • Weta Workshops posted a tease on Twitter of Middle Earth collectibles headed to San Diego. There is even a fun video that helps build the suspense, but it says it won’t be revealed until July 18th.

  • Matthew Ashton design VP at Lego and executive producer of The Lego Movie 1 & 2 responded on Twitter that something special is headed to the convention. Could we be getting The LEGO Movie 2 as part of the WB Hall H presentation? Seems likely.

  • Creator of Star vs. The Forces of Evil Daron Nefcy announced on Twitter that there will be a limited signing for the show in the Sails Pavillion on July 19th. Check out the post for all the details.

  • Bob Schooley the executive producer for the Big Hero 6 TV show posted on Twitter that there will also be a limited signing for the show in the Sails Pavilion on July 21st. Details are in the post.

  • Hero Within has posted an exclusive headed to Comic-Con. In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Superman they will be bringing a Superman inspired blazer.

  • Illustrator and concept artist Marcelo Matere posted on Twitter that his commissions list is now open. Check out the details in the post if you’re interested.

  • Nate Mitchell revealed on Instagram his new 10-Doh 10-Finity SDCC 2018 exclusive. It will be $20 and should be an edition of 100. Nate says there are more announcements coming soon.

  • Amy Mebberson posted on Instagram her Black Panther originals she will be bringing to table F7.

  • Funimation answered on Twitter that they will be revealing what is headed to San Diego Comic-Con after Anime Expo.

  • Artist Val Hochberg is bringing some original art to San Diego Comic-Con small press N-12. She is also working on a Star Wars series with more reveals coming soon.

  • Story artist for Disney, Fox and Warner Brothers Hank Tucker is bringing his comic creation Actual Roger to Comic-Con. He will bringing four boxes of his full color convention special issue #1  with him.

  • Disney, Warner Brothers, Mezco Toys and Marvel artist Christopher Uminga will be at SDCC artist alley BB18 and he will be bringing this Teen Titans Go piece with him.
