One does not simply see Tolkien early — unless, of course, you’re one of the lucky few at WonderCon 2019.
Fox Searchlight will be holding an early screening for their upcoming film Tolkien, which explores the formative years of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit author. Attendees will get a first chance to see the film ahead of its May 10 release date, with a special screening and Q&A set for Saturday, March 30 at 6PM at the Century Stadium 25 & XD (about a 15 minute drive/Uber ride from the convention).
The panel for the film, which takes places the day before the screening, will include actor Nicholas Hoult, director Dom Karukoski, and additional cast including Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, and Tom Glynne-Carney — so it seems reasonable to expect some, if not all, to also be in attendance for the screening.
[UPDATE March 27] In order to score tickets to the screening, head to the Legion M Booth #1837 (which they’re sharing with MGM/Stargate) first thing from show open Friday morning. They’ll have 250 tickets to give away, and each ticket admits two. These tickets are first-come, first-serve, and limited to one per person. You must join/sign up for Legion M at the booth in order to receive a ticket. Also, it’s important to note that they are giving out way more tickets than the theater holds, so you will need to get to the theater early.
