Something is coming from down below! NBC is surprising attendees at Comic-Con Special Edition with an offsite at the convention for their series La Brea.
Fans will be transported from the Gaslamp Square (501 L Street) near the Tin Fish, back to 10,000 B.C. Iconic elements from the series such as a giant mammoth skull, mountain-like sculptures along with building and car debris from the recent sinkhole off La Brea Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.
Attendees can stop by all weekend (Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27 from 9AM PT – 6PM PT or Sunday, November 28 from 9AM-4PM) for survival-themed giveaways, water refill stations, and photo ops.
Need to recharge after a long day of fighting exhibit floor crowds, er, prehistoric creatures? The area will also have a forest-themed picnic space with water refill and phone-charging stations.
There will also be a special Resident Alien giveaway while supplies last.
[UPDATE November 26]
Parks & Cons took a trip back in time to La Brea at the offsite this morning to get a closer look, which included several photo ops including a posed photo looking like you’re falling into the sinkhole from the series.
Additionally, you can score exclusive swag like a La Brea waterbottle and SYFY bag — with staff telling folks to come back later, as they’ll have different swag throughout the weekend.
[UPDATE November 25]
The La Brea offsite is mostly set up now, and our own Parks & Cons got a closer look at the photo-op-ready signage, mammoth skull, and more:
