If you find yourself with free time at San Diego Comic-Con or are simply looking for a cool place to grab a drink or a bite to eat, hop on over to the Hilton Gaslamp Quarter’s newest restaurant, The Wild Hare. Our own Parks and Cons stopped by for a quick look down the rabbit hole.
The space and menu recently received a complete revamp, with new decor inspired by 1970’s California chill vibes. The Wild Hare is led by executive chew Emiliano Sotelo (Karl Strauss Brewing Company, Hard Rock Hotel), and features cocktails and menu items utilizing fresh produce grown at the hotel’s organic herb garden alongside other locally-sourced products.
You can munch on small plates like their Carne Asada Street Tacos or Al Pastor Glazed Wings, or tuck into a Caesar salad, Double Cheeseburger, or Crispy Chicken Torta served on a bolillo roll. And of course, as a nod to the theme, you can end your meat with a slice of carrot cake.
The drink menu features a signature cocktail, What’s Up Doc, which is made with Trust Me gluten-free vodka, ginger, and carrot juice.
With a view of the San Diego Convention Center, it’s also the perfect place for peak people-watching during the con.
