The Toxic Avenger / Mother’s Day with Lloyd Kaufman and Charles Kaufman

Popcorn Reef will be presenting a screening of The Toxic Avenger and Mother’s Day on Wednesday, July 23 at 7pm at the Regal Edwards in Mira Mesa. Writer/directors Lloyd Kaufman and Charles Kaufman will be in attendance for a live Q&A.

Troma Entertainment’s cult classic The Toxic Avenger (1984) follows the story of Melvin, a janitor in the corrupt town of Tromaville, who falls into a vat of toxic waste and transforms into a hideously deformed but super strong-mutant. Armed with a mop and a sense of justice, “Toxie” takes on criminals, bullies, and polluters.

Charles Kaufman’s Mother’s Day (1980) is an exploitation horror film that follows three women on a camping trip who are captured by two deranged brothers under the twisted command of their sadistic mother.
