The official San Diego Comic-Con panel schedule starts coming out tomorrow (beginning with Thursday’s programming), but there’s still plenty of time for panel announcements and news. Syfy has just unveiled their San Diego Comic-Con plans for 2017 – and they’re bringing everything from a reunion for Battlestar Galactica, to The Expanse, to The Magicians, and more.
Syfy is back in full force at the con, with panels for The Expanse, The Magicians, 12 Monkeys, Van Helsing, Dark Mattery, Shadnado 5: Global Swarming, Wynonna Earp, Z Nation, and Channel Zero, as well as new series Krypton and Blood Drive, Ghost Wars, Happy, and more.
The biggest news, though, is that Syfy will be holding a Battlestar Galactica reunion – something they did earlier this year at ATX Television Festival in Austin. The panel will reunite creator Ron Moore with actors Tricia Helfer, Katee Sackhoff, Mary McDonnell, Grace Park, and more.
On top of all of that, the network may even be saving some content for their own offsite – Syfy Presents Live from Comic-Con, which will be held nightly from Thursday, July 20 – Saturday, July 22 at the Marriott Marquis & Marina with host Zachary Levi. Tickets are not yet available, but we’ll alert you once they are (and expect them to go quick!).
And speaking of Syfy and Levi, the network is teaming up with Levi and The Nerd Machine to bring Nerd-HQ-style dance parties back to the convention. You can cap off Thursday and Saturday evenings at The Children’s Museum with free (first-come-first-served) parties featuring live performances. The Spazmatics will perform Thursday, and you can dance both nights away with Levi and other fans (and who knows who else might stop by?). Friday night will be invite-only again, as in previous years.
They’re also teaming up with Orlando Jones and his Cosmunity app, and they’ll be offering trivia trolleys, cosplay karaoke buses (and some of your favorite stars might stop by!), as well as cosplay repair carts, and “a drumline marching through the streets in the Gaslamp Quarter playing theme songs from Star Wars to Game of Thrones“. Jones will also be officiating weddings during the convention. No, really.
