Under The Tents: SDCC News for June 5, 2013

We’ve started a new, quasi-regular column on the Blog titled “Under The Tents”. The title is symbolic, as it’s representative of the times we all line up under the tents waiting for those big moments to happen inside Hall H or Ballroom 20.

Here’s the stuff you might have missed for today:

  • Mezco Toyz unveiled another SDCC 2013 exclusive that will make you yell “Ho!” (sorry, we just had to do that). It’s the Thundercats 14-inch Cheetara with that beloved Snarf.

This beauty – literally (we’re talking Cheetara, here) – has glow-in-the-dark eyes and ten points of articulation. Snarf stands at five-inches tall. The two are packaged in a window box and are available for pre-order now at Mezco’s web store for $50.

  • TR!CKST3R, the counter-convention for artists and designers, will announce its Symposia events later this week, with tickets on sale starting next week, it announced today via Twitter.

  • NECA showed off the packaging for its highly sought-after Friday the 13th SDCC exclusive, via Twitter. It looks, appropriately, like a beat-up old NES cart box. And we love it.

  • Acme Archives and Gentle Giant unveiled today its new Star Wars “Magnitude” Admiral Ackbar mini-bust, to be available at SDCC this year. First was the preview from Juxtapoz Magazine, via Twitter:

Then it was this Vine video from artist Steven Daily which showed an unboxing of the packaging and bust in all of its six-seconds of glory.

  • Check out this limited edition (750 pieces) Resident Evil Zombie Dog Statue from Hollywood Collectibles.   It’s $59.95 and can be pre-ordered now. Just the perfect gift for moms everywhere!

  • Amber Nash, the voice of Pam on FX’s Archer, will be signing and chatting with SDCC attendees at the Factory Entertainment booth (#3351) during the convention, it was revealed via Factory’s Twitter account.

Coincidentally, if you want one of those Archer Dolphin Puppets, it was announced that pre-orders are nearly at their limit, so get yours in now.
