Like you, we’re all saddened by Nerd HQ’s announcement yesterday — but let’s try to turn that frown upside down with some news about will be coming to the convention, including Syfy, exclusives, and more.
Here’s a look at what you might have missed:
- If you’re starting to worry that everything and the kitchen sink is cancelling their San Diego Comic-Con plans, Syfy is here to save the day. Syfy SVP of Communications Katherine Nelson jumped into a Twitter exchange to confirm that not only will there be panels at the convention for Syfy this year (though it’s too early to say which ones), but that they’re planning “a bigger on the ground activation than ever before.” We can’t.
We're definitely planning on bringing shows! SDCC hasn't confirmed panels to nets/studios yet… they usually do so in late May

We did Live from Comic-Con + panels last year, too. And this year, plan a bigger on the ground activation than ever before!

- NECA Toys announced via Twitter they will have another Godzilla debut at SDCC this year, but it will not be an SDCC exclusive.

- Our favorite crochet artist, the Geeky Hooker, pays homage to the Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice “did we just become best friends” moment with A Tale of Two Marthas. Each will be available as prize drops, and she is also offering them as prizes for CCI’s Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive. Remember to follow her Twitter or Facebook pages for info about her prize drops.
- Local San Diego artist Scott Hattox shared some of his new acrylics he’ll have with him at SDCC this year. Find his work locally at Calmed 421 in Normal Heights or at Booth #1621 at SDCC.

- They’re baaaack! Get your inflatable T-Rex costumes ready, as The Flex Your Rex/Dino-Mite Fun Walk stated in a Facebook comment that there will be another walk happening this year, currently planned for Saturday, July 22 at 6:00PM. Stay tuned for further details about the location, etc.
- Author Kelly Swails shared a teaser about her new comic book from Kymera Press set to debut at SDCC this year.

- Weta Workshop delights in keeping their fans in suspense. They’ve announced that they will have something to reveal at SDCC this year, but their lips are sealed as to what that may be.
All will be revealed at SDCC! Muahaha. You didn't think we'd give it up that easy, did you?

- Television writer Amy Berg told a fan on Twitter that she will be on “at least” two panels at this year’s convention, and that she’s also anticipating a presence for the Starz series Counterpart. The upcoming espionage sci-fi thriller follows J.K. Simmons’ character as a lowly bureaucrat who discovers the agency he’s working for is guarding a parallel dimension. Sounds like a good fit for Comic-Con, right? And we all know how Starz loves to premiere new shows at the convention…
On at least two panels that I'm aware of… and STARZ will probably have stuff from S1 of Counterpart to show.
