WonderPost: WonderCon Masquerade, Billy Martin, Brianna Garcia, Justin Harder, Bob Q

We are just hours away from the year of 2020 — aka, the year of a brand new WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con. And for the first con of the year from CCI, set for April 10-12, what do you have to look forward to? Well, lots and lots of great artists and exhibitors, of course! Earlier in the month, both confirmations and waitlist e-mails went out to exhibitor-hopefuls for WonderCon, and we’ve got the round-up of which of your favorite artists are back.

See you in 2020, kids.

Here’s a look at what you might have missed:

  • Masquerade! Paper faces on parade… If you are interested in signing up for WonderCon’s Masquerade, set for Saturday, April 11 at 8:30PM, make sure you sign up prior to March 23, 2020. More contest information and rules are available on CCI’s website.

  • Comic book illustrator Bob Q, known for his work on Lone Ranger and Red Sonja, is heading back to WonderCon — and he’s getting an upgrade, moving from Small Press to Artist Alley. Bob does amazing commissions, so if you’re in the market for some dope original art, be sure to check him out.

  • San Diego Comic-Con was a little bit for the worse last year for denying artist Brianna Garcia a table — but we’re so happy to see she’ll be back at WonderCon again this year. If you want a commission from her, a word of advice: make her your first stop.

  • One person you won’t be seeing at either San Diego Comic-Con or WonderCon this year is concept artist Justin C. Harder, of Claus Studios. He’s taking all cons off in 2020.

  • Storyboard artist Henry Liao did one of our other favorite commissions in 2019 — and he’s heading to WonderCon at Artist Alley B-22.

  • Pop punk guitartist for Good Charlotte and freelance illustrator for Hasbro, IDW, Nickelodeon, and more — Billy Martin — is heading to several conventions in 2020, including both WonderCon and San Diego Comic-Con.

  • Author of The Questrison Saga, J. Dianne Dotson, will be exhibiting at Small Press SP-12. She also promises she’s been busy making art for her series, and may have prints available at WonderCon.

  • Artist Kirsten Kneeland, also known as Doodlelust, only has plans for two conventions in 2020 — but WonderCon is on her list.

  • Lucasfilm and Marvel illustrator Caleb King will be back to exhibit at WonderCon in 2020.

  • You can find Marvel and Dark Horse cover artist Erik Gist at Artist Alley in WonderCon this spring.

  • Catch “bird dad” Will C. Tan at WonderCon in 2020, where we’re willing to bet you can find lots of adorable bird-related items and art.

  • Artist Don Nguyen is heading to Artist Alley B-50, where he’ll have his Pablo the Gorilla comic.

  • The graphic novel No’madd will have a booth at the con as well.

  • The news wasn’t as good for some artists, with many being placed on the waitlist.
