This edition of Under the Tents is going off the rails. We have San Diego Comic-Con news from legends like Ozzy Osbourne and John Carpenter, more crochet, and opportunities for lots of free swag. Mama, I’m comin’ home to SDCC 2022.
Here’s a look at what you might have missed:
- ALL ABOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRDDDD!!! HAHAHAHAHA! Ozzy Osbourne is riding the Crazy Train all the way to San Diego Comic-Con 2022 to promote his latest collaboration with Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. So for those of you who have been asking, “What is Ozzy doing at SDCC?”, this is your answer.
- Red 5 Comics is standing by with Dragon Whisperer writer Alex De Luca, who will be stopping by Booth #1717 to sign copies of the newly-released Dragon Whisperer 2: The Search for Obsidian. Look for more details in this year’s Autographs post.
- Ben Seto has some good news and bad news. The bad news: He won’t have new volumes of Skullbunnies ready in time for San Diego Comic-Con. The really good news: He is bringing a brand new issue to Black Sheep Comics’ Table #O-16 in Small Press. Let Seto know he is no black sheep; he’s right where he belongs.

- Comic artist Rafael Navarro is celebrating 25 years of his lucha detective Sonambulo at Booth #2107 on the Exhibit Hall floor.

- Stop by inki-Drop’s Booth #1703 at SDCC this year to find this beautiful Hoku Humpback printed plywood pin.

- Do we have crochet? Of course! We would never let you down. We’re particularly excited to see Geeky Hooker partnering with her fellow critter dropper again to add to her already adorable crocheted critters.

- They say the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, so how many of us will need DCD Collect’s Epic Star Trek Mystery Boxes at Booth #1815? I think I need that dual Nimoy/Shatner autograph from the 2001 35th Anniversary.
- Celebrate the return of the Nelson, Murdock, and Page law firm with the Saved Daredevil fandom at SDCC with some free swag. I hear that Murdock guy is a really good lawyer.
- AfterShock Comics announced their super talented lineup of autograph signings at Booth #2715 this year. See our Autographs post for more info and how to participate.
- Diamond Select Toys announced on their blog that they will again be running some epic giveaways at Booth #2607 this year. Follow their socials to see how you can grab some great collectibles.
- Legendary master of horror John Carpenter is bringing a friend along to SDCC this year. You can visit Mrs. Pickman from In the Mouth of Madness for the first time ever at Booth #2020 and take a couple pics while you’re there. I’ll bet she’s a warm hugger.
- Hasbro will also be bringing some previews to SDCC Booth #3213 this year along with their exclusives. Look for Star Wars: The Black Series Cassian Andor & B2EMO (available Fall 2022) as well as Star Wars: The Vintage Collection The Rescue Set Multipack (available Spring 2023) to be on display (but not for sale… yet).
- It’s all fun and games until you get to San Diego Comic-Con. Then, it’s MetaZoo Games bringing special guests and having an all around blast at Booth #1629.
