WonderPost 2025: Lenny Romero, CGC Comics, Toy Temple, Ricky Pee Pee

It’s about to be March, and that can mean only one thing….NCAA Basketball! KIDDING! I don’t know anything about basketball! March is WONDERCON month, the annual gathering of cosplayers, bargain hunters, Pop! lovers, ARC collectors, and fan boys/girls/NBs in Anaheim. This week, we saw the Funko announcements plus a rebellious Patrick Ballesteros reveal, but there’s oodles more to talk about about so I will stop wasting your time and get down to business.

Here’s some of the news you might have missed:

  • Slime Baby isn’t just for babies, it’s slime for all ages and it is CUUUUUUUUUTE! Get a load of these adorable Slime Babies headed to WonderCon, from their Facebook post.

  • Wouldn’t be a proper convention without the good folks at CGC setting up to accept submissions. You can be sure they are back, and they will be accepting comics, trading cards, VHS tapes, and video games for grading, as well as providing signature witnesses.  If it’s your first time, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with their submission process. Also note, their popular pins will be back, and who doesn’t love pins?!? (Sidenote: I did their submission last year at C2E2 and it was insanely easy and I saved myself some dough and stress by not having to ship the books to them. I give it my recommendation!)

  • It’s a shame to hear that whatever project this art was made for won’t be released, but fans will still be able to see and purchase the original Godzilla and King Kong artwork by Lenny Romero at WonderCon. Hopefully he’ll also have some of the stunning prints and stickers he’s got over on his Etsy page too.

Art for an officially licensed project last year that I was paid for, but unfortunately, it did not see a release. NO PRINTS will be made, but the originals will debut for sale at Wondercon 2025! 😁

  • We have a few weeks before we’ll get to see the whole WonderCon panel schedule, but we are incredibly thankful for all the panelists who like to share their good news before then. If you’re into the creatures and aliens of Star Wars and cosplaying, here’s a perfect one you’ll want to check out, chock full of experts in the field.

Check it out!

  • Arizona based Toy Temple is bringing the whole family out to WonderCon for a Fairly Odd Parents autograph signing, timed perfectly to pair up with the release of the Funko Pop! box set. Find them at Booth #181.

  • Hello Kitty might be 50 years old, but she’s still the most stylish cat in the universe. Channel her iconic style with Galaken’s exclusive anniversary sunglasses, of which the final few pairs will be available at their booth during WonderCon.

  • Hard to deny that independent and self-publishing is the lifeblood of the small press industry. Want to know the ins and outs? A group of professionals including multi-talented Arthur N. Ebuen will be discussing Publishing On Your Terms for Your Benefit at a panel during WonderCon. Date and time to be announced soon.

See you all at #WonderCon! Details to be announced soon.

  • He’s already got a handful of exclusives for the show, why not another one? That’s the incredible work ethic of creator Sean Forney, who adds this exclusive Poohdevil cover for WonderCon. Pre-orders for pick-up are welcome. (Honestly, the whole pre-order for pick-up is one of my FAVORITE methods of convention shopping. It gives the creator the money ahead of time, and gives me the assurance that I don’t need to sprint to get there. Please never stop the “PO4PU” options, folks!)

  • I know we all think we can just pick up a lightsaber and battle with strength and grace and the form of the most seasoned Jedi….but, we can’t. Believe me, we’re tried. Thankfully, there are folks out there willing to put in the practice…and practice they do, as seen in this clip of the dual saber-wielding Lady Vexus. You’ll be able to see the whole battle during the intermission of the WonderCon 2025 Masquerade, by the Orange County chapter of the Saber Guild, on Saturday, March 29. More info is available on the WonderCon site.

  • JL Grillo has been hard at work on a zine featuring social media tips for creators and recently showed off the cover on the zine on Bluesky. For some, promoting on social media comes very natural and easy (*ahem* Parks and Cons *ahem*) but for many it’s the most difficult part of the job. Let Grillo help make it easier and fun! Copies of the zine will be available at WonderCon.

Cover art for my collection of social media comics! I’ll have copies available at WonderCon – March, 28 to 30!

  • Illustrator Attiba Royster is working on three new pieces to debut at WonderCon and gave us a shell-tastic peek at the work-in-progress for the first one. Cowabunga, dude, we cannot wait to see the finished product!

  • And finally, today, we’ve got Portland-based surreal artist Ricky Pee Pee, with some fantastical stickers that you’ll be able to pick up at WonderCon. Do yourself a fun Friday favor and scroll through their incredible gallery of images.
