Peacemaker is taking over at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, and fans can expect a dance number that might just upstage season one’s iconic opening.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, creator James Gunn revealed that Eagly, everyone’s favorite patriotic bird, will be trying out some new moves in the season two credits sequence. “He is not the best at it, but he tries to really join in the dance sequence at the end,” Gunn teased. “He’s got a little pose this time.”
But when will fans get their first look at the new opening number? The new sequence won’t be seen until Comic-Con in July, but Cena “promises it will be worth the wait”.
[UPDATE May 29]
Hold on to your shiny helmets, folks.
James Gunn as posted on Threads that is his previous statement regarding attending SDCC in July was not quite correct. Gunn was referring to CCXP, which takes place in Mexico this upcoming weekend
This could mean several things – including that we’re getting a Peacemaker panel with additional cast, or perhaps that Entertainment Weekly’s July date was wrong.
[UPDATE]
James Gunn confirmed on Threads that he will be at the panel, along with John Cena — though it will only be the two of them. Gunn did say that he will “talk about everything”, though, which could mean that DC Studios fans could still get an early look or teases on some of the upcoming film slate.
None of this should be a surprise, as HBO Max has already proved it knows this is the crowd for the show — and it returns to streaming for its second season just weeks after the con, on August 21. Back in 2021, at Comic-Con International’s first foray back into conventions post-pandemic, series star John Cena made a surprise guest appearnace at Comic-Con: Special Edition, and the series even got a fun offsite.
We can’t wait to see the dance sequence — and we wouldn’t be upset about a live version of it in some form happening at the con.
